  • Publication number: 20120238426
Abstract: A package having a reclosable pour spout is disclosed, with the package including front and rear package panels which may be joined at respective side edges thereof by inwardly extending side gussets. An upper edge portion of the package is removable, including one of the side gussets, to form a pour spout for dispensing the contents of the package. A fastener strip, which can be detachably connected to itself, extends between confronting inside surfaces of the front and rear package panels, adjacent to the pour spout, whereby the pour spout can be conveniently closed after the package is initially opened. A method of forming the present package is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20120046151
Abstract: Recloseable bags, plastic film for making the bags, and a method and apparatus for making the bags are disclosed. The bag has a recloseable fastener (26) connected to a single wall of the bag, and the film (55) has a recloseable fastener (26) connected to one side thereof which does not require attachment to any other portion of the film (55) when making a bag. The fastener (26) has a tamper-proof member attached thereto to indicate if the bag has been previously opened. The film (55) can be wound into a roll (54) suitable for use on conventional bag making machines, including form, fill, and seal machines.

  • Publication number: 20120006822
Abstract: A recloseable package, such as formed from polymeric film material, includes a package body including front and rear package panels joined to each other at side edges thereof. A recloseable fastener assembly is provided on the inside surface of the front package panel, with a preferentially weakened region of the front package panel operatively associated with the fastener assembly. In order to facilitate convenient opening of the front package panel, and access to and manipulation of the fastener assembly, the package includes a pull-tab member secured to the exterior of the front package panel, with a pull-tab member including an articulable gripping portion which can be readily articulated and manipulated by consumers, so that it can be grasped to facilitate manipulation and opening of the package.

  • Publication number: 20100290719
Abstract: A recloseable package including a recloseable fastener assembly is configured to facilitate pinch-grip opening of the package by gripping and separation of front and rear panels of the package. In order to facilitate opening in this manner, the recloseable fastener assembly is configured to open and separate during pinch-grip opening, without separation of the fastener assembly from the body of the package and/or delamination of the package body. To this end, elements of the recloseable fastener assembly are partially separated from each other, intermediate the ends thereof, to facilitate opening of the fastener assembly without separation of the assembly from the body. Alternatively, the fastener assembly can be configured such that one of the elements has a pair of flange portions for attachment to the package body, while the other fastener element has a single flange portion.

  • Publication number: 20100002964
Abstract: According to the invention, a patch is provided to be attached to the outside of the wall of the bag over the profile strip fastener assembly that is attached to the front panel of the package. The patch is made from a gas barrier type of substrate as to prevent oxygen and other gases from entering or leaving the perforations within the opening feature used to access the fastener assembly. The side of the patch that is in contact with the front panel of the bag includes an adhesive for securement to the package. A variety of adhesives can be utilized for securement depending on the arrangement of the perforations. Printing can be included on the outside of the patch to highlight the reclosable feature of the package thereby eliminating the need to modify the original printing on the package.

  • Patent number: 6652436
Abstract: A method of making a recloseable package having a slider zipper assembly includes advancing a web of a plastic film material in a direction along a longitudinal axis thereof, and applying a plurality of profile strip fastener assemblies to the plastic film material transversely of the longitudinal axis. A slider is applied to each of the fastener assemblies so that movement of each slider along the length of the respective one of the fastener assemblies moves the pair of profile strips thereof into and out of interlocking engagement. Opposite side edges of the plastic film material are joined to form a tube, with seals formed transversely of the tube to form a top seal and a bottom seal for each of the packages. The package is configured such that the slider projects generally through the front wall of the package, with the front wall optionally being provided with a frangible region in the form of a line of weakness aligned with the fastener assembly.

  • Patent number: 6481891
Abstract: A package in the form of a reclosable bag includes a bag body including front and back walls, and a profile strip fastener assembly sealingly mounted on the inside surface of the front wall. The profile strip fastener assembly includes a pair of releasably interlocking profile strips, with a secondary, peelable seal provided between the profile strips apart from their mechanically interlocked portions. By this arrangement, enhanced sealing for the package is provided, while abating the stress to which the interlocked portions of the profile strips are subjected during forming and filling of the package. The bag body preferably includes a frangible joint substantially aligned with the fastener assembly for gaining access to the assembly, with the frangible joint desirably providing tamper-evidence of opening of the package. The profile strips are sealed to the front wall of the bag body with a continuous oval shaped seal around the frangible joint. The perimeter seal is located above the peelable seal.
