  • Publication number: 20220183080
Abstract: A method performed by a wireless device. The method may be understood to be for handling a random access procedure in a wireless communications network via a network node. The wireless device operates in the wireless communications network. The wireless device refrains, after having sent a first message to the network node requesting random access and having received a first random access response message from the network node, from stopping a timer. The timer is for a time window for receiving the random access response message. The wireless device also continues monitoring both: a) a radio channel for further random access response messages from the network node addressed to a temporary identifier, and b) the radio channel, addressed to a temporary identifier specifically addressing the wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20220182796
Abstract: A method for enabling group transmission in a telecommunication network including a group having plurality of devices capable of Device to Device, D2D, communication and a base station. The group has a group coordinator device; and the plurality of devices may directly communicate with one another over a D2D side-links. The group coordinator device is arranged to communicates with the base station over a cellular link. The method includes receiving, by the group coordinator, data from a device of the group utilizing a D2D grant for performing D2D communications within the group. The D2D grant has a D2D time resource indicating a D2D time resource in which the D2D communications are allowed, transmitting, by the group coordinator, the received data to the base station at an uplink, time resource. The uplink time resource is determined by adding a fixed, predetermined, time offset to D2D time resource in the grant.

  • Publication number: 20220150980
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method performed by a UE (101) for handling 2-step and 4-step RA procedures in a communications system (100). The UE (101) transmits a msgA comprising a preamble and a msg3 to a network node (103). The UE (101) applies a 2-step RA procedure when transmitting msgA. Based on a criterion, the UE (101) determines to fallback from the 2-step RA procedure to a 4-step RA, procedure. The criterion is that a maximum number of msgA transmissions has been exceeded or receipt of an indicator indicating that the UE (101) should fallback from the 2-step RA procedure to the 4-step RA procedure.

  • Publication number: 20220116989
Abstract: Group transmission of data from a group of User Equipment devices to a network node of a cellular communication system where communication between devices is effected by device-to-device technology can provide significant improvements in uplink coverage and user bit rate. However, the benefits of group transmission means that not all devices of a group have sufficient network coverage to reliably receive a grant signal scheduling uplink resources from a network node. Methods, devices and a network node are proposed that enable the dynamic selection of either a direct grant mode, in which each device receives the uplink grant directly from the network, or a relayed grant mode, in which a device acting as group coordinator relays the grant to all members of the group, to ensure optimal performance for group transmissions. The selection is dependent on at least one determined condition relating to the group of devices and/or the group transmission.

  • Patent number: 11297652
Abstract: A method, performed by a wireless device (130), for handling access to a cell (120). The wireless device (130) operates in a wireless communications network (100). The wireless device (130) determines (302), given a first uplink carrier (141) in use during a random access procedure to the cell (120), whether or not a second uplink carrier (142) is to be used during the random access procedure to the cell (120), instead of the first uplink carrier (141). The cell (120) is served by a network node (110) operating in the wireless communications network (100). The wireless device (130) then uses (305), based on a result of the determination, one of the first uplink carrier (141) and the second uplink carrier (142), to continue the random access procedure to the cell (120).
