  • Publication number: 20070081811
Abstract: A camera flash is disclosed for producing a warm light having a desired color temperature. In one embodiment, the flash has a xenon flash component producing a light with a spectrum having a color temperature at a higher Kelvin rating than the warm light, and a light emitting diode flash component producing a light with a spectrum having a color temperature at a lower Kelvin rating than the warm light. The color temperature of the light of the xenon flash component and the color temperature of the light of the light emitting diode flash component together produce the warm light having the desired color temperature.

  • Publication number: 20070045641
Abstract: A lighting source capable of producing white light using a semiconductor radiation source. The semiconductor radiation source may be an ultraviolet (“UV”) light emitting diode (“LED”) device that emits light at a short wavelength, e.g., near-violet or ultraviolet light. A thin film of phosphor may be deposited or coated on the surface of the UV LED or positioned directly above the UV LED. The lighting source may also include an UV reflector radiationally coupled to the thin phosphor layer that allows visible white light emitted from the thin phosphor to pass through and reflects shorter wavelength light back to the thin phosphor layer.

  • Publication number: 20060138938
Abstract: A light source having a light emitting semiconductor device on a die and a light conversion layer is disclosed. The die emits light of a first wavelength. The light conversion layer overlies the die and includes a first soluble fluorescent dye and a second fluorescent dye in a solid clear plastic carrier. The first and second florescent dyes convert the light entering the conversion layer to light of second and third wavelengths, respectively. At least one of the first and second dyes is excited by light of the first wavelength. In one embodiment, the second and third wavelengths are present in a ratio of intensities such that the light leaving the light conversion layer is perceived as white light by a human observer. The light conversion layer may be divided into sub-layers that include the individual dyes.

  • Publication number: 20060113895
Abstract: A light emitting device utilizes multiple layers of quantum dots to convert at least some of the original light emitted from a light source of the device to longer wavelength light to produce an output light. The light emitting device is made by forming the multiple layers of quantum dots over a light source and then forming an encapsulant over the multiple layers of quantum dots. The multiple layers of quantum dots can be used to produce broad-spectrum color light, such as white light.

  • Publication number: 20050167685
Abstract: A device and method for emitting output light utilizes Group IIB element Selenide-based phosphor material to convert at least some of the original light emitted from a light source of the device to a longer wavelength light to change the optical spectrum of the output light. Thus, the device and method can be used to produce white color light. The Group IIB element Selenide-based phosphor material is included in a wavelength-shifting region optically coupled to the light source, which may be a blue-green light emitting diode (LED) die.

  • Publication number: 20050134723
Abstract: A light module associated with the camera provides flash light having a spectral content that is adjustable according to one or more drive signals. The light module includes one or more emitters of light of at least two different colors that are individually accessible to the one or more drive signals. The flash light is a mixture of the light from the one or more emitters.

  • Publication number: 20050135079
Abstract: A flash module includes a first light source emitting a first primary light has a first wavelength-converting overlay disposed on the first light source to provide a first color of light. The first wavelength-converting overlay includes a first plurality of quantum dots dispersed in a matrix material. The flash module also includes a second light source providing a second color of light.
