  • Patent number: 6714778
Abstract: The context sensitive web services method enables a mobile phone or wireless device to use context inference techniques to sense the user's environment and in response, to provide useful information to the user that is appropriate to the user's perceived environment. The method includes the steps of receiving sensor signals characterizing a current environment of the wireless device; processing the sensor signals with a context inference engine; outputting a current context result from the processing by context inference engine; and providing useful information to the user in response to the current context result. A further aspect of the method provides user control of access by application programs to the user's private data, including private data in a server. Still further, this can also include providing user control of access by application programs in a web server, to the user's private data.

  • Publication number: 20030139199
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a cellular phone (200), and to a cellular phone manufactured using said method. In the manufacturing method according to the invention, the platform, which comprises the essential electronic components of the cellular phone, is manufactured using mass production technology. A working cellular phone (200) also includes electronic custom parts which are integrated in a structural element in the phone. A customer can modify the properties of his phone by replacing the structural element with another one which comprises different components. A custom part may also be changed by the customer himself.

  • Patent number: 6393305
Abstract: A method to authorize or authenticate a user of a wireless telecommunication system (32), and includes steps of (a) selecting a word at random from a set of reference words, or synthesizing a reference word; (b) prompting the user to speak the reference word; and (c) authenticating the user to operate in, or through, or with a resource reachable through the wireless telecommunication system, only if the user's speech characteristics match pre-stored characteristics associated with the reference word. In one embodiment the steps of selecting or synthesizing, prompting, and authenticating are performed in a mobile station (10) having a speech transducer (19) for inputting the user's speech, while in another embodiment at least one of the steps of selecting or synthesizing, prompting, and authenticating are performed in a wireless telecommunications network (32) that is coupled between the mobile station and a telephone network (35).
