Patent number: 10597977Abstract: A closing sleeve assembly with a ported sleeve is disclosed. The closing sleeve assembly includes a housing; a port formed in the housing; a sealing surface formed in the housing adjacent to the port; and a closing sleeve configured to move between an open position and a closed position. The closing sleeve includes an uphole portion configured to substantially cover the sealing surface when the closing sleeve is moved to the open position; a port formed in the closing sleeve and configured to substantially overlap with the port formed in the housing when the closing sleeve is in the open position; and a seal configured to engage with the sealing surface to form a fluid and pressure tight seal when the closing sleeve is in the closed position.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2015Date of Patent: March 24, 2020Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Phillip Terry Thomas, Jason Earl Davis

Patent number: 10570687Abstract: A reclosable multi-zone isolation tool including a piston assembly with a lock out feature. The tool has an outer and inner tubular having an annular flow path defined there between, and a central flow path defined by the inner tubular. The annular flow path is in fluid communication with the first zone, while the central flow path is in fluid communication with the second zone. A sleeve is positioned in the annular flow path and axially moveable between an open and closed position. A mandrel is positioned within the inner tubular and coupled to the sleeve to actuate the sleeve between the open and closed position. A pressure responsive piston assembly is coupled to the mandrel in order to actuate the sleeve to the open position. Once in the open position, the piston assembly is “locked out,” thereby allowing the mandrel and sleeve to move relative to the piston between the open and closed positions.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2016Date of Patent: February 25, 2020Assignee: HALLIBURTON ENERGY SERVICES, INC.Inventors: Jason Earl Davis, William David Henderson

Patent number: 10519750Abstract: A reclosable multi-zone isolation tool including a mandrel assembly with a pull-force lock feature. The tool includes an outer and inner tubular having an annular flow path defined there between, and a central flow path defined by the inner tubular. The annular flow path is in fluid communication with the first zone, while the central flow path is in fluid communication with the second zone. A sleeve is positioned in the annular flow path and moveable between an open and closed position. A mandrel assembly is slidingly positioned within the inner tubular and coupled to the sleeve to actuate the sleeve between the open and closed position only when a push force is applied. If a pull force is applied, the mandrel assembly “locks out,” thereby preventing movement of the sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2016Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Assignee: HALLIBURTON ENERGY SERVICES, INC.Inventors: Jason Earl Davis, William David Henderson

Patent number: 10487630Abstract: An apparatus has been described, including a tubular housing including opposing first and second end portions and defining an interior surface, an exterior surface, and an internal flow passage; an open inflow area extending radially through the tubular housing and adapted to distribute the radial flow of a fluid from the internal flow passage to the wellbore; a closure member extending within the tubular housing and adapted to cover the open inflow area; and a filter defining a plurality of gaps, the filter concentrically disposed about the exterior surface of the tubular housing and extending axially along at least the open inflow area. In an exemplary embodiment, the open inflow area includes a plurality of openings formed radially through the tubular housing and defining a tubular injection interval extending axially along the tubular housing. A system and assembly have also been described, each incorporating elements of the above described apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2015Date of Patent: November 26, 2019Assignee: HALLIBURTON ENERGY SERVICES, INC.Inventors: Jason Earl Davis, William Mark Richards

Patent number: 10465479Abstract: An erosion protection system for closing sleeve assemblies is disclosed. A closing sleeve assembly including a housing; a port formed in the housing; a sealing surface formed in the housing adjacent to the port; a closing sleeve configured to move between an open position, in which a fluid flow through the port is permitted, and a closed position, in which the fluid flow through the port is prevented, the closing sleeve including a seal configured to engage with the sealing surface to form a fluid and pressure tight seal when the closing sleeve is in the closed position; and a protective sleeve configured to extend toward the port to substantially cover the sealing surface when the closing sleeve is moved to the open position and retract away from the port when the closing sleeve is moved to the closed position.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2015Date of Patent: November 5, 2019Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Jason Earl Davis, Phil Terry Thomas, William Mark Richards, Thomas Jules Frosell
