  • Publication number: 20180032493
Abstract: In various implementations, a first computing device (such as a cloud-based server) receives, from a second computing device (e.g., a notebook computer, tablet computer, or smartphone): (a) a graphical annotation for a document displayed on the second computing device, and (b) a comment for the graphical annotation. The first computing device stores the graphical annotation in a database in a graphical annotation data entity, stores the comment in the database in a comment data entity, and associates the graphical annotation data entity with the comment data entity within the database.

  • Patent number: 9715748
Abstract: Method for displaying and identifying relevant paths through a graph by displaying them in a tabular format and providing user defined and computed values and filters. Each graph is represented as a set of nodes and edges. Each path through the graph is displayed as a row in a table where the user can apply sorting, filtering, and compute intrinsic or extrinsic information to augment the data.

  • Patent number: 9514346
Abstract: A multi-layer optical barcode with security features is described herein. An example method includes illuminating a first phosphor layer on a substrate with light having a first wavelength, wherein the first phosphor layer has luminescent properties such that when it is illuminated by light having the first wavelength, it emits light having a second wavelength, the first phosphor layer is divided into a first two-dimensional grid of cells arranged in a first spatial pattern, wherein each cell of the first phosphor layer corresponds to one bit of an identification code, a first portion of the first phosphor layer is removed from a first number of cells of the first two-dimensional grid of cells to expose the substrate for the first number of cells, capturing a first image of the light emitted by the first phosphor layer having the second wavelength, determining whether the first phosphor layer is authentic based on the first image, and determining the identification code based on the first image.

  • Publication number: 20160155091
Abstract: In various implementations, a first computing device (such as cloud-based server) transmits instructions to a second computing device (such as a notebook computer, tablet computer, or smartphone). The instructions are usable by the second computing device to render at least a first portion of the document on a display. The first computing device receives an asset identifier and a user comment from the second computing device. The asset identifier uniquely identifies a discrete subset of user content within the document (such as particular paragraph, a table, or a cell within a table). The first computing device stores the comment (e.g., in a cloud-based database) in a data entity that is separate from a data entity in which the user content identified by the asset identifier is stored and associates the comment with the asset using the asset identifier.

  • Patent number: 8574440
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and article for manipulating an amount of organic material entrained in an aqueous phase of a solvent extraction process. The method includes estimating an interfacial shear stress between an aqueous phase and an organic phase of a solvent extraction apparatus, estimating an amount of organic material entrained in the aqueous phase based on the estimated interfacial shear stress, and manipulating one or more solvent extraction process parameters to manipulate the amount of organic material entrained in the aqueous phase. The method and apparatus can be used to improve performance of and reduce operating costs associated with the solvent extraction apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20130134254
Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) designed to extinguish fires from the air while remaining tethered to the ground via a tether system fashioned to provide the UAV with power and extinguishant. The UAV is preferably electrically powered and is stabilized in the air via a system of gyroscopes fashioned to work in concert with a series of electric motors capable of moving to counteract the opposing recoil force exhibited as water escapes the nozzle of the tether. A command and control unit on the ground supplies the UAV with electricity and water via the tether. The UAV is preferably stored within and launched from the command and control unit. Controls and sensor readings are communicated to a controller—be it autonomous or human—on the ground, preferably within or proximal to the command and control unit.

  • Publication number: 20120297283
Abstract: The Priority Filter View (PFV) provides a set of visual forms which allow for the user to interactively display, query, filter, sort, organize and disseminate information. This is done by exposing the relationships to the user without necessarily having to visually depict them. These relationships are often displayed with common graphical user interfaces which replicate the exact hierarchal data structures which exist in XML and folder style file systems. The PFV does not impose those rigid limitations, allowing the user to dictate the order in which content is filtered and displayed.

  • Publication number: 20120111213
Abstract: A process for adhering a decorative pattern to a flat or multi-dimensional solid involves a heat transfer powder that is sprayed or brushed onto the surface to which the image is to be applied. A design in sublimate ink is placed on a transfer film. The ink particles convert directly to gas without passing through a liquid state. The gas converts directly to a solid upon cooling filling in the gaps or pores in the heat transfer polymer. A rigid fixture is provided which has a top, front and sides onto to which solid to be decorated are snugly fit by the fixture. A solid cap which may have a soft felt-type material on the inside, which is designed to push the film in tight and level contact with the solid surface to which the design is to be imprinted may be used.

  • Patent number: 8077177
Abstract: Method, computer executable program and apparatus for displaying massive amounts of potentially non-uniform gridded data through the use of view dependant refinement. An initial minimal representation is created. A view dependant refinement criterion is then used to ascertain the perceived quality. If necessary, refinements and decimations to the current representation are performed. The representation is then provided to graphics hardware for display.
