Abstract: A system, method and various user interfaces provide an embedded web-based video player for navigating video playlists and playing video content. A website publisher can create and store a video player with customized parameters (e.g., player type, appearance, advertising options, etc.) and can associate the player with a playlist of selected videos. The stored video player is associated with a player ID in a player database and can be embedded in a website using an embed code referencing the player ID. A user interface for the embedded player provides controls for controlling video playback and for controlling the selection of a video from the playlist.

Abstract: Video thumbnails are presented on the web page of a video hosting site, or an embedded player, or a client device. Uploaded videos are examined by a thumbnail generator, which generates thumbnails from each. A presentation engine displays the generated thumbnails, which allows interaction by the user of the client. Thumbnails are displayed at rest, in horizontal or vertical alignment. Arrows or other selectors are displayed in one embodiment, and when selected cause the displayed thumbnails to appear to move in the appropriate direction, with new video thumbnails appearing on one end to replace those that travel off-screen. In one embodiment, video thumbnails appear to roll on to and off of the display using a perspective view. In one embodiment, moving a selecting device over one of the video thumbnails causes it to be accentuated, for example by appearing to move toward the viewer and appearing to increase in size.

Abstract: A system, method and various user interfaces enable visually browsing multiple groups of video recommendations. A group of video recommendations includes a central video and a set of related videos displayed at its corresponding display distance from the central video and from each other. The corresponding display distance of a video is calculated as a function of the video's recommendation score and correlation with other videos of the group. The recommendation score is generated based on a weighted covisitation measure. Visually presenting recommended videos to a user provides a quick and intuitive way to find videos of interest and visualize the browsing of the recommended videos.

Abstract: A system and method for a content player to determine and retrieve a graphical asset associated with a player feature supported by the content. The content player downloads the graphical assets, integrates the graphical assets in the player's graphical user interface, and displays the graphical assets as part of the player's user interface. A group of video recommendations includes a central video, an indicator of video of interest corresponding to the central video, and a set of related videos displayed at its corresponding display distance from the central video and from each other. The corresponding display distance of a video is calculated as a function of the video's recommendation score and correlation with other videos of the group. Responsive to selection of new central video, a new group of video recommendations is generated and displayed in coordination of the existing groups of video recommendations, where the plurality of central videos are visually connected. Visually presenting recommended videos responsive to user selections of videos of interest provides a quick and intuitive way for user to traverse videos of interest and visualize the browsing of the recommended videos.
