The applicator may be configured such that, when the applicator and the container are coupled together, at least one cavity is formed between a free end of the duct and an internal surface of the applicator, and at least one portion of the applicator has a thickness along a direction of the axis of the duct that is less than the thickness of the side wall in a direction substantially perpendicular to the axis of the duct.
