  • Patent number: 8912871
Abstract: An electromagnetic actuator comprising a core moving between a latched position and an open position, a permanent magnet, a coil designed to generate a first magnetic control flux to move the core from an open position to a latched position, and a second magnetic control flux designed to facilitate movement of the moving core from the latched position to the open position. The permanent magnet is positioned on the moving core so as to be at least partly outside the fixed magnetic circuit in which the first magnetic control flux flows in the open position, and to be at least partly inside the fixed magnetic circuit used for flow of a magnetic polarization flux of the magnet in the latched position.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 15, 2010
Date of Patent: December 16, 2014
    Assignee: Schneider Electric Industries SAS
Inventors: Michel Lauraire, Jean Pierre Kersusan, Bernard Loiacono

  • Patent number: 5166483
Abstract: A three-phase circuit breaker with self-extinguishing expansion and rotating arc structures comprises an arc extinguishing chamber per pole and housing a pair of contacts, one stationary and one moveable, a coil to rotate the arc, and an exhaust channel in at least one contact to provide an opening a communication and gas outflow between the extinguishing chamber and the expansion volume of an enclosure filled with SF6. The extinguishing chamber has a square or rectangular cross-section to resorb the gas plug after braking of the gas rotation movement, and improve stirring of the gas in the extinguishing chamber.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 30, 1991
Date of Patent: November 24, 1992
    Assignee: Merlin Gerin
Inventors: Jean-Pierre Kersusan, Hugues Filiputti, Victor Pennucci
  • Patent number: 5057655
Abstract: An inside of tubular contacts of a self-extinguishing expansion SF.sub.6 -gas circuit breaker including guiding ribs arranged to oppose any vortex-effect swirling gas flow between a first extinguishing chamber and a second expansion chamber. The presence of these ribs improves the dielectric withstand of the circuit breaker, and prevents any arc restriking inside the contacts.
