Patent number: 6775912Abstract: A blade scraping tool including a hand gripping casing formed of a top covering and a bottom covering; a resilient plate mounted inside the casing; a blade; a blade mounting device; and an interlocking assembly. The resilient plate is slidably movable along a longitudinal slot on the top covering by actuating a push button thereon to release engagement of the interlocking assembly. The interlocking assembly cooperates with the resilient plate and the top covering for locking the plate into different positions by actuating and sliding the push button; a first position where the blade is entirely retracted within the casing, a second position where the blade is exposed for scraping, and a third position where the blade is exposed far enough for mounting and removal of the blade from the blade mounting device. The tool preferably includes a peripheral elastomer rim along a portion of the periphery of the casing.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2002Date of Patent: August 17, 2004Inventors: François Panfili, Jean-Pierre Panfili

Patent number: 6742215Abstract: A drywall knife having a handle and a blade securely mounted thereon. The handle includes an elongated inner core having a longitudinal axis, a transverse axis, a front end, a rear end and first and second opposite surfaces extending from the rear end to the front end of the inner core along the longitudinal axis of the handle, the blade being securely mounted to the front end of the inner core. The improvement resides in that the inner core of the handle includes at least one recess having an opening facing the first surface so as to reduce the overall weight of the drywall knife, and the inner core further includes a lid hingedly mounted to the first surface of the inner core, said lid being positioned and sized to be folded about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the inner core so as to cover each recess. The drywall knife is inherently lightweight due to its design. The drywall knife is mounted onto the blade without the use of fasteners, due to the design of the handle and blade.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2001Date of Patent: June 1, 2004Assignee: A. Richard S.E.N.C.Inventors: Jean-Pierre Panfili, François Panfili, Istvan Vaskuthy

Patent number: 6719620Abstract: A sanding tool having a plate with opposite sanding and supporting sides, a handle mounted onto the supporting side of the plate, and at least one fastening device operatively connected to the supporting side of the plate for fastening a sandpaper onto the sanding tool in such a manner that most of the sandpaper rests against the sanding side of the plate. Each fastening device has a clamping device and a guiding device. The clamping device is movable with respect to the supporting side of the plate between a first position where the clamping device is away from the supporting side and a second position where the clamping device rests operatively against the supporting side. The guiding device is used for guiding movement of the clamping device along a predetermined path between the first and second positions. In operation, a portion of the sandpaper is removably clamped between the supporting side of the plate and the clamping device when the latter is in the second position.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2002Date of Patent: April 13, 2004Assignee: A. Patent number: 6629331Abstract: A hand scraper having a blade with a cutting edge that is attached to a handle having a rear end, a central portion and a front end with a bottom portion shaped and sized to receive and act as a support for the blade. The handle is upwardly curved over all its length in order to give room to a user's fingers below its central portion when this central portion is gripped by the fingers and the blade and the bottom portion of the rear end of the handle are in contact with a surface, and simultaneously to allow maximum transfer of pressure exerted by the user in the central section of the handle towards the blade at the front end thereof. Advantageously also, the central portion of the handle is covered at least in part with a layer of rubber material in order to maximize grip and reduce hand fatigue in use.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2001Date of Patent: October 7, 2003Inventors: Jean-Pierre Panfili, François Panfili

Publication number: 20030136005Abstract: A blade scraping tool including a hand gripping casing formed of a top covering and a bottom covering connected to each other; a resilient plate mounted inside the hand gripping casing; a blade; a blade mounting device on which the blade is mounted; and an interlocking assembly. The casing includes a slot extending centrally and longitudinally on the top covering. The resilient plate is mounted inside the hand gripping casing and is slidably movable along the same. The resilient plate has a push button which extends outwardly from the casing through the slot and which is slidably movable therealong. The blade mounting device on which the blade is mounted is affixed to a front end of the resilient plate and is positioned and devised to slide through a front opening of the casing. The interlocking assembly cooperates with the resilient plate and the top covering for locking the plate and the blade into different working positions.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2002Publication date: July 24, 2003Inventors: Francois Panfili, Jean-Pierre Panfili
