  • Patent number: 7398709
Abstract: Apparatus for extracting a cork from a bottle comprises a corkscrew mounted in a carrier, the carrier being mounted on a frame for longitudinal reciprocating movement with respect to the longitudinal axis of the corkscrew and the corkscrew being rotatably mounted on the carrier for joint longitudinal movement therewith, the axis of rotation of the corkscrew being generally coincident with the centre line of the corkscrew. A control nut is rotatably mounted on the frame, the control nut having a screw passage therethrough, the screw passage being positioned to receive the corkscrew and configured to mate with the configuration of the corkscrew whereby, upon longitudinal movement of the corkscrew in the screw passage, rotational movement is imparted to the corkscrew. Actuator means is operatively connected to the carrier for reciprocating the carrier.

  • Patent number: 4549785
Abstract: A device for viewing a series of stereoscopic views disposed in pairs in columns on a card (S) comprises a generally flat rectangular body (9). A first pair of channels (14) on the front of the body, disposed on each side of an axis of symmetry of the body, is adapted to permit the card to slide therein. A hinged plate (16) carries eyepieces (30, 31) and is hinged (17 to 20) to form panels (21 to 25). An end panel (24) is attached to the body (9). The other end panel (25) is mounted so as to slide in the second pair of channels (15). The center and lateral panels (21, 22, 23) occupy either a deployed position in which the eyepieces (30, 31) lie in a plane parallel to and appropriately spaced from the front surface (10) of the body (9), in line with windows formed in the body, or a folded position in which the plate (16) lies flat against the front surface (10).

  • Patent number: 4530570
Abstract: A device is adapted for viewing transparencies disposed circumferentially on a disk. It comprises a case (10) adapted to contain a disk (12). A pin (15) is adapted to mount the disk (12) for rotation within the case (10). The disk (12) may be driven in rotation by virtue of at least one peripheral opening (10F, 10G) in the case (10). A pair of windows (10C, 10D) are disposed in face to face relationship and so that the transparencies (13) can move between them. A front member (11B) on one side of the windows is adapted to support an optical system comprising at least one lens (15) in line with and spaced from the windows. A rear member (11C) is adapted to constitute a shank for clipping the device to an article of clothing. The device may be used and worn as a badge, since the front surface of the case (10) may carry any form of inscription or illustration.
