In one embodiment, a transaction device associated with at least one transaction account may have a substrate comprising a display that displays an account identifier for the transaction account; a sensor that receives authentication information from a user; a processor that processes the authentication information to verify the authenticity of the user; and a communicator that communicates at least the account information, the communicator including at least one of a magnetic stripe, an electrical interface, and a wireless RF interface. The display may not display the account identifier until the user is authenticated, and the communicator may be inactive to communicate the account information until the user is authenticated.
