  • Publication number: 20110005115
Abstract: The present invention relates to magazines for firearms, and more particularly to magazines that accept blank cartridges for training and other exercises and that prevent the introduction of live cartridges. In an embodiment, the safety magazine includes an internal cavity that is shorter in length than a live ammunition cartridge. The internal cavity accepts shorter blank ammunition cartridges. The top-most ammunition cartridge in the magazine sits just under the magazine's feed lips, in the top-most ammunition position. A projection extends from the top end of the magazine opposite the feed lips to block a longer live ammunition cartridge from being inserted into the top-most ammunition position. Thus, live cartridges cannot be loaded into the magazine even at the top-most position of the magazine. The projection is retractable into the magazine.

  • Publication number: 20100281737
Abstract: The present invention relates to rifle magazines, and more particularly to an improved detachable magazine for a rifle. The improved magazine has an outer case with an open top end, a bottom end, and an internal cavity. The magazine also includes a follower that moves within the internal cavity. The follower guides ammunition cartridges toward feed lips at the top of the magazine, where the cartridges are loaded into the rifle. The follower includes one or more openings or slots formed through the top surface of the follower. The slots enable debris or dirt inside the magazine to fall out when the magazine is being cleaned. Water can be sprayed into the magazine through the slots in the follower, and dirt or debris can be flushed out to clean the magazine without disassembly.

  • Patent number: 7676977
Abstract: A bipod for a firearm is provided, including a body with cutouts to receive a bipod base, and a pair of legs. The bipod base is pivotally mounted to the body, and a firearm mounting bracket is pivotally mounted to the bipod base, allowing for a traversing and/or canting motion. A ball lock mounts each leg to the body, allowing the legs to be independently deployed or stored with the push of a plunger. The legs also telescope to allow adjustment of the bipod height.
