  • Publication number: 20220349116
Abstract: There is provided an impregnated natural fiber including a cuticle and an interior lumen, the cuticle circumscribing the interior lumen; and insoluble particulates possessing a preselected property embedded in the fiber. The particulates comprise at least 0.1-30 wt. % of the impregnated fiber and the particulates are embedded on the cuticle and within the lumen of the fiber. The fiber has an increased strength, micronaire value and rate of water absorption. Also provided is a system for surface treating cellulose sliver fibers. The system includes a vessel containing a moist paste which comprises at least one particulate material possessing one or more preselected desired properties, a thickening agent and water. The paste from the vessel is dispensed directly onto sliver fiber ribbon(s). A bore sonotrode generates ultrasonic waves which embed the particulate material(s) in the sliver fibers.

  • Patent number: 11098419
Abstract: The invention provides a thermal control combination yarn system including a first plurality of the yarns within the system including microdenier or almost microdenier hydrophobic yarns, such as, for example, polypropylene (PP) and a second plurality of the yarns including less hydrophobic ultra microfibers (UMF), wherein the first plurality of yarns is in direct contact with the second plurality of yarns. The yarn system can include from 97% yarns made of a microdenier or almost microdenier hydrophobic material and 3% yarns made of a less hydrophobic ultra microfibers (UMF) material to 97% yarns made of the less hydrophobic ultra microfibers material and 3% yarns made of a microdenier or almost microdenier hydrophobic material.

  • Publication number: 20150038040
Abstract: The invention provides a thermal control combination yam system comprising a first plurality of the yams within said system comprising microdenier or almost microdenier hydrophobic yams, such as, for example, polypropylene (PP), and a second plurality of the yams comprising less hydrophobic ultra microfibres (UMF). Said system comprises a ratio of said yarns ranging from between 97% yams comprised of a microdenier or almost microdenier hydrophobic material and 3% yams comprised of ultra microfibres (UMF) comprised of a less hydrophobic material to 97% yams comprised of ultra microfibres comprised of a less hydro phobic material and 3% yams comprised of a microdenier or almost microdenier hydrophobic material and said first plurality of yams is in direct contact with said second plurality of yams.
