  • Patent number: 10247646
Abstract: A self-contained biological sample processing cartridge includes top and bottom portions that close together to form a sealed chamber therein. The chamber is configured to enable one of one or more biological sample staining procedures appropriate for a biological sample. The top portion includes a chamber top section and valve control elements. The bottom portion includes a chamber bottom section and fluidic valves. One of the fluid valves evacuates the contents of the chamber. One of the valve control elements couples to a respective fluidic valve to control fluid flow for the chamber. The cartridge includes a preloaded reagent component to supply the chamber with the reagent component appropriate for a particular biological sample staining procedure. A user desiring to conduct a particular biological sample staining procedure may select a particular cartridge that is preloaded with the preloaded reagent fluidic valves component appropriate for the particular biological sample staining procedure.

  • Patent number: 10095898
Abstract: A specimen holder includes an RFID tag that exhibits an RFID unique identifier. The specimen holder also includes a barcode that exhibits a barcode unique identifier. The user may place a specimen holder in a particular rack slot of a multiple slot specimen rack that is situated on a specimen reader. The specimen reader may receive this specimen holder at accession time. The specimen reader reads both the RFID tag and the barcode of the newly inserted specimen holder. The specimen reader may correlate the RFID unique identifier and barcode unique identifier with one another and store the RFID unique identifier and barcode unique identifier associated with one another in a database. The database may also associate the RFID unique identifier and barcode unique identifier of the newly inserted specimen holder with a rack slot unique identifier that the database also stores.

  • Patent number: 10080876
Abstract: Described here are devices, systems, and kits for delivering substances to tissues. The devices generally include one or more chambers (102) and a reservoir (108) within each chamber. The reservoir may locally deliver a microdose amount of a substance to a target tissue. In some variations, a microdose amount is used in early human studies, e.g., before a phase I clinical trial, to evaluate the effect of the substance on a target tissue, or to obtain pharmacokinetic or metabolic data. In other variations, a microdose amount is used to locally treat a medical condition. In yet other variations, a microdose amount is used to locally deliver a contrast agent for a structural or functional imaging procedure. Methods for delivering and retrieving the devices from the target tissue are also described.
