A system comprises an enrolling system that verifies an enrollee, associates an enrollee's main and overdraft account, and issues a debit card, an authentication system that receives information regarding a requested transaction of a debit card and that receives information regarding the main and overdraft account associated with the debit card and accepts or rejects the requested transaction based thereon, and a settlement system that generates a periodic report of at least one of the transactions, the main account, and the overdraft account. The overdraft account can be a charge or credit account.

The issuer system may deplete the transaction data file in accordance with the transaction request and replenish the data file in accordance with fob user or fob issuer defined reload protocol.

In exemplary operation, the fob and RFID reader may be personalized, the fob may be presented to the RFID reader for interrogation, the fob and reader may engage in mutual authentication, and fob identifying information may be provided to the reader for transaction completion. In another exemplary embodiment, operation of the transponder-reader payment system may be controlled by an activation circuit. Further, the fob may be responsive to multiple interrogation signals.

In exemplary operation, the fob identifying information may be presented to the RFID reader for completion of a transaction request. The transaction request may be provided to a fob issuer system which may process the transaction request in accordance with a funding protocol wherein the transaction request is satisfied according to a fob issuer predefined funding criteria relative to the multiple funding sources.

Abstract: A system and method for providing incentives at a merchant location for using a RF identification (RFID) transaction device for transaction completion is provided. An RFID transaction device account number includes a marker for identifying that the transaction is being completed using an RFID transaction device. A merchant system recognizes the marker and provides incentives to the RFID device user accordingly. In one embodiment, the incentives are provided to an RFID device user in real-time. Alternatively, the merchant system may provide the incentives to the customer at a later time. Further still, incentives may be provided to the user based on a prior transaction history, user profile, or any other data related to the user, user account, merchant, product or service.
