The dehydrogenation reaction takes place in the presence of a catalyst including an active metal. The active metal includes platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), or a mixture thereof that is supported on a carrier including a composite metal oxide having alumina (Al2O3) and an additional metal oxide different from alumina, at a low temperature of 150° C. to 250° C., to produce hydrogen.
