  • Patent number: 5211580
Abstract: A backplate for securing low voltage electrical sockets includes a flat plate with tabs formed, and adapted for repositioning, by first, second or third bend lines, and the tabs are adapted for bending to form a support bracket having a rectangular central opening surrounded by sidewalls with the contiguous tabs essentially orthogonal to the plane of the plate. The support bracket is provided with fastener holes positioned to remain in the plane of the plate after bending the tab. The tabs are provided with variously configured bend lines whereby the tabs can be repositioned behind a wall panel with a clasping action for securing the support bracket to the wall panel.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 15, 1992
Date of Patent: May 18, 1993

  • Patent number: 4479341
Abstract: A clip for securing two T-bar grid beam members in generally perpendicular relation to one another in the formation of a ceiling grid for use, for instance, in a suspended ceiling. A plurality of clip embodiments are disclosed, each comprising a resilient fastener portion adapted for securing the clip to a primary T-bar beam member in generally snap-fastened relation, by forcing such resilient portion down over the head of the beam, and also another resilient fastener portion projecting laterally of the first fastener portion in generally perpendicular relation with respect thereto, and comprising resilient means for connecting a secondary T-bar beam member to the first mentioned beam member and in said perpendicular relationship. The clips may be formed of sheet material, such as sheet metal, and are adapted to be mass produced. The clips can be utilized with both the type of T-bar having a rectilinear head portion, as well as the type having a generally round head portion.

  • Patent number: 4191352
Abstract: A suspension clip for assembly with a beam support having a base flange, such as for instance an inverted T-beam. The clip is formed of resilient sheet material and comprises a generally flat body and reversely bent arms extending generally parallel to the body on the same side of the latter, from opposite edges of the body, with each arm including a generally upstanding tab extending generally perpendicular to the plane of the body. The clip is adapted to be placed against the underside of the base flange of the support beam, and rotated to cause the body and coacting arms to resiliently grasp the base flange. The body may have dependent structure for attaching an article to the beam-clip assembly.

  • Patent number: 4041657
Abstract: A fixture support for a grid-type ceiling, comprising spaced clip means adapted for mounting on spaced, generally parallel, inverted T-shaped, in cross section, grid bars, with the clips having a plurality of vertically spaced openings therein for mounting a bridging bar therebetween, the bridging bar having hanger means mounted thereon for suspending a fixture, such as an electrical outlet box therefrom, and with the vertically spaced openings on the clip providing for selective vertical positioning of the bridging bar and associated hanger means with respect to the clips, thereby varying the vertical position of the outlet box with respect to the ceiling grid.

  • Patent number: 4027454
Abstract: A hold down clip for mounting on an inverted T-shaped rib of a grid-type ceiling structure, for holding the ceiling tiles in place. The clip comprises spaced leg portions which are adapted to overlie the tile and at least one foot portion projecting outwardly from the respective leg portion, with such foot portion having tab means thereon for either digging into the underlying tile and anchoring it in place or engaging the adjacent edge surface of the underlying tile in the event the latter is cut short, and maintaining it in position. The clip may be expeditiously formed from flat sheet material, such as sheet metal; in some embodiments the clip comprises more than one pair of leg portions.
