The strain-relief-device has a close-out panel having opposed side-edges, a top-edge and a bottom-edge. The housing has walls and a bottom configured to receive the connector-body, the dress-cover, and the strain-relief-device. The walls define a slot, and the connector-body, dress-cover, and a portion of the strain-relief-device are disposed within the slot. The walls have opposing-channels on a first-side and a second-side of the slot and terminate at the stops. The opposing-channels slideably engage the opposed side-edges.

This method includes the steps of attaching the first and second parts to one another by sliding the first and second snap locking features over one another until the first mating surface is proximate the second mating surface and deforming a portion of the first part to fabricate a protrusion that contacts the second part and urges the second part in a direction effective to place the first and second mating surfaces into direct contact with one another.

The panel is configured to receive the retainer within the aperture, thereby securing the automotive component to the panel and limiting motion of the automotive component relative to the panel along vertical, longitudinal, and lateral axes.

One locating structure includes spring arms that cooperate with notches provided by the aperture. Another locating structure includes an edge captured beneath a periphery of the aperture. The mounting plate is snap-fit to the bracket over the electrical connectors.

A single slide lever having two arms attached to each of the slides is pivotably attached to the connector body and the slides and is configured to simultaneously move the dog-leg shaped slots relative to the studs on the base, thereby securing the connector body to the base.
