    Abstract: Disclosed are a submodule structure formed of an energy storage element, a first turn-off device, a second turn-off device, a third turn-off device, a freewheeling diode, a series resistor, and diodes respectively in antiparallel connection with the turn-off devices, and a converter completely or partially formed of the submodules. Also disclosed are a relevant protection unit and a control method for the converter. The converter can be locked when a direct current (DC) fault occurs to prevent an alternating current (AC) system from injecting a fault current into a DC network, so that a transient fault of the DC network can be removed without tripping an AC line switch, thereby rapidly restarting the system. A charging resistor is comprised in the submodule so that a charging resistor disposed at an AC side of the converter can be reduced and even may not be disposed.

    Abstract: Various embodiments for managing data by a processor in a multi-tiered computing storage environment. Input/Output (I/O) statistics are examined from each of cache and device drivers in the computing storage environment. Based on the I/O statistics, a ranking mechanism is applied to differentiate data between at least a cache rank and a Solid State Drive (SSD) rank. The ranking mechanism migrates data between the cache rank and SSD rank such that storage space in the cache rank is reserved for those of the plurality of data workload types having a greater adverse effect on a storage performance characteristic if stored in the SSD rank than if those workload types were stored in the cache rank.

Since ordinary CCD camera is used, the cost of the imaging system has been sharply reduced for the equipment's construct and maintenance compared with PET/SPECT or ? camera.     Abstract: A secure registration-free fingerprint authentication method based on local structures comprising: extracting descriptor features and local structure features of fingerprint minutiae from an input fingerprint image; conducting quantization and feature selection with respect to the features of the fingerprint minutiae; and encrypting the selected features and then decrypting the encrypted features to obtain the fingerprint image. The method adopts local features for fingerprint authentication, thus avoiding the complex registration in encryption domain. The method lowers the risk of the fingerprint authentication being attacked and improves security.
