    Abstract: In order to address the problem of RLC layer relaying in the prior art that downlink user data of a user equipment with an access through a relay station may be lost due to a handover, the invention proposes solutions of a method and apparatus for controlling downlink data transmission in a multi-hop relay communication system so that when a next-hop network device of a base station is a relay station, an RLC entity of the base station transmits an indication message to a PDCP entity of the base station, to trigger the PDCP entity of the base station to discard a PDCP SDU corresponding to at least one PDCP PDU, upon reception of a user equipment delivery acknowledgement message from the access relay station to acknowledge delivery of the at least one PDCP PDU to the user equipment. The access relay generates the user equipment delivery acknowledgement message upon reception from the user equipment of positive acknowledgement messages for all the RLC PDUs corresponding to the at least one PDCP PDU.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a wireless self-backhaul technique in a wireless communication network, especially in a WiMAX network, which implements wireless backhaul between base stations by using radio resources (frequency, sub-band or timeslot) of base stations' own. More specifically, uplink and downlink backhaul channels are formed between a master base station and a slaver base station using base stations' inherent resources and through offsetting the frame start time of the slaver base station for a period of time in relation to the master base station. The slaver base station operates in base station mode during local user access and operates in subscriber station mode during implementing wireless backhaul traffic with the master base station. Therefore, the slaver base station needs to switch between these two operating modes.

    Abstract: A relay method and device, wherein the control signal and the data signal which are in the same subframe are directly sent to a lower level device respectively by an upper level device and a relay function device. In one example, the relay function device transmits data signal using subscriber special reference signal to make the lower level device estimate an access channel correctly; in another example, the relay function device carries out precoding of the data signal correlative with the access channel so as to cancel the influence of the access channel, thereby make the lower level device receive data signal correctly. Retransmission control signaling is sent to the lower level device in each subframe by the upper level device to ensure the fixed sequential relationship of feedback retransmission.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method and a device for adjusting the sleep mode of a mobile station in order to solve the problem in current multi-hop relay systems of long time delays in data transmission caused when data packets have to wait for the next listening window to reach the mobile station because of packet errors. Wherein, a relay apparatus judges whether the previous hop network apparatus needs to retransmit data packets to the mobile station; when the previous hop network apparatus needs to retransmit data packets to the mobile station, the relay apparatus transmits to the mobile station the adjustment related information for adjusting the sleep mode of the mobile station. The mobile station adjusts the sleep mode according to the adjustment related information. Preferably, the adjustment related information comprises indicating information for indicating that the mobile station is in triggered listening status within predetermined time interval.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and a base station for allocating bandwidth for subscriber stations and a backhaul station through taking into joint consideration uplink and down bandwidth requests from respective subscriber stations in a wireless single-hop self-backhaul network. Upon receipt of information on bandwidth requests from the subscriber stations, the base station takes uplink and downlink bandwidth requests into joint consideration, allocates bandwidth for the subscriber stations and the backhaul station, and then notifies the subscriber stations and the backhaul station. Since bandwidth allocation is no longer based on uplink and downlink resources separately, a relatively high system bandwidth utilization ratio can be achieved and uplink and downlink bandwidth fairness for asymmetric traffic be ensured even if the network is overloaded.

    Abstract: A method is proposed for segmenting one or more ventricles in a three-dimensional brain scan image (e.g. MR or CT). The image is registered against a brain model, which ventricle models of each of the one or more ventricles. Respective regions of interest are defined based on the ventricle models. Object regions are first obtained by applying region growing procedure in the regions of interest, and then trimmed based on anatomical knowledge. A 3D surface model of one or more objects is constructed within a 3D space from the segmented structure. A 3D surface is edited and refined by a user selecting amendment points in the 3D space which are indicative of missing detail features. A region of the 3D surface near the selected points is then warped towards the amendment points smoothly, and the modified patch is combined with the rest of the 3D surface yields the accurate anatomy structure model.

The method comprises the steps of: encoding the audio/video content data into a basic stream having a first level of quality and an advanced stream, combination of the basic stream and the advanced stream has a second level of quality higher than the first level of quality; and transmitting the basic stream and the advanced stream with a first power and a second power lower than the first power on antennas, respectively. With the method and apparatus of the invention, the low SINR users are able to maintain the low data rate receiving the basic stream and the high SINR user can receive both the basic stream and advanced stream from two logical channels.

    Abstract: A method is proposed for segmenting a 2- or 3-D space, spanned by a set of medical data comprising intensity values at locations within the space, to estimate the position of an object of medical significance. The method using a level set function having a level set which provides a model of boundary of the object. The level set function is iteratively updated by a force defined based on the medical data. For computational efficiency, only the force in the narrowband of the model boundary needs to be calculated. Minimisation of an energy function, related to the force, provides a termination condition for the iteration. High level knowledge can be incorporated in several ways, such as by an explicit force term which takes over from the force based on the medical data when prior knowledge of the object is about to be violated by the model.
