  • Publication number: 20020159004
Abstract: The present invention provides a three-dimension display apparatus which includes a liquid crystal display; a first polarizer on the rear surface of the liquid crystal display; a second polarizer on the front surface of the liquid crystal display; a liquid crystal polymer being on the second polarizer and including a chiral dopant and liquid crystal molecules. The liquid crystal polymer is divided into first regions through which incident light is not polarized and second regions through which the incident light is polarized at 90 degrees. A third polarizer on the liquid crystal polymer selectively transmits the incident light from the liquid crystal polymer. A light source below the first polarizer.

  • Publication number: 20020085280
Abstract: A polarization stereoscopic display device and a method of its manufacture. A liquid crystal display panel displays an information in accordance with signal data comprised of left-eye and right-eye image information, a polarizer polarizes modulated light through polarizer. A patterned retarder layer separates light by polarization into a left-eye picture and a right-eye picture in accordance with its pattern. A light waveguide disposed between the polarizer and the retarder layer reduces polarization changes between the polarizer and the retarder layer. Beneficially, the polarizer, waveguide, and retarder layer are formed into an integral unit. The retarder layer includes a chiral material, and a waveguide layer for the substrate is beneficially comprised of a solvent-proof polymer.

  • Patent number: 5889571
Abstract: A photo-irradiating apparatus includes a UV lamp generating the UV light, a lens, a polarizer in which the UV light is linearly polarized, and a substrate exposed by the linearly polarized UV light. The UV lamp, the lens, and the polarizer are arranged in a line. The UV light is irradiated into the alignment layer during the moving of a scan motor to irradiate the whole area of the alignment layer uniformly. In addition, the light is obliquely irradiated into the alignment layer so that the area exposed to the light is enlarged.
