  • Patent number: 11043014
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for presenting information relative to a map. In one aspect, a method includes identifying points of interest within a geographical region; displaying a map for the geographical region; constructing one or more heat areas for the map using the identified points of interest; and displaying one or more polygons on the map, wherein a polygon is displayed to encompass an area within a constructed heat area. In another aspect, a method includes identifying points of interest within a geographical region; displaying a map for the geographical region; displaying one or more polygons on the map, wherein the polygons are displayed to encompass one or more points of interest within the geographical region.

  • Patent number: 10817807
Abstract: In responsive to receiving a user interaction with a map graphical user interface (GUI) of a client device, the system identifies an origin, and determines a map zoom level and map position based on the interaction. The system identifies and ranks candidate destinations for the origin. The system automatically selects destinations from the ranked candidates for inclusion in the map based on the zoom level and the position. Each selected destination for which a destination location indicator would be obscured in the map by an indicator of a higher ranked destination is automatically determined by the system. The system then deselects each destination for which a location indicator has been determined to be obscured by an indicator of a higher ranked destination, forming a revised set of destinations. The system transmits instructions to display a location indicator for each destination in the revised set to the client device.

  • Publication number: 20180357301
Abstract: A search system generates one or more groups of search results of the plurality of search results based at least in part on a calculated similarity between search results of the plurality of search results. The search system communicates instructions to a user computing device causing the user computing device to render a graphical user interface, the graphical user interface comprising one or more group results of the generated one or more groups of search results, wherein each of the one or more group results comprises a timeline comprising respective indicators for each result in the group result along the timeline. The search system receives, from the user computing device, an input via the graphical user interface selecting a particular indicator corresponding to a particular search result along a particular timeline, wherein the graphical user interface is configured to display details of the particular search result.

  • Publication number: 20170293665
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for information retrieval. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a search query in a search interface; determining that the received search query is a flights-related query; and in response to determining that the search query is a flights-related query and without further user input, providing a flight search interface including a plurality of search dimensions and a plurality of flight search results, each dimension associated with an attribute of flight search and each dimension having an associated value, wherein one or more dimension values correspond to values extracted from the search query, and wherein the plurality of flight search results are filtered according to the dimension values.

  • Publication number: 20160125320
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for information retrieval. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a flight search query, the flight search query identifying a plurality of flight parameters including a departure location, a destination location, and at least one date; obtaining a plurality of flight search results that satisfy the flight search query; grouping the plurality of flight search results into groups based at least in part on calculated similarity between flight search results of the plurality of flight search results, wherein the similarity is based on a combination of a plurality of features of the respective flight itineraries of the flight search results; and providing the plurality of flight search results for display in a flight search results interface including providing at least one group result of the generated groups of flight search results.
