  • Patent number: 11022948
Abstract: A safety control device comprises: at least one input module having a number of input interfaces; at least one output module having a number of output interfaces; and a computing unit that includes: a programmable processor; a read-only memory to store an operating program for the processor with program code in machine-readable form for providing a function library with a number of functions of the safety control device; and a non-volatile, overwritable storage medium. A number of function activation codes are stored downloadably in the storage medium, and each of the function activation codes is capable of being assigned a function of the function library such that by logically linking the function activation codes to their associated functions of the function library only those functions of the function library can be activated whose function activation codes are stored in the storage medium.

  • Patent number: 10937283
Abstract: A switching device shuts down a machine installation in failsafe fashion. The switching device includes an input for a defined input signal, a first output providing a first current path to the machine installation, a display element capable of assuming first and second states, and a processor having first and second modes of operation. The first current path includes a switching element capable of assuming closed and open operating states. In the first mode, the processor controls the switching element in response to the defined input signal in order to selectively close or interrupt the first current path. In the second mode, the processor controls the switching element into the open operating state regardless of the defined input signal. In the first mode, the display element assumes the first and second display states in response to the switching element being in the closed and open operating states, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20200175825
Abstract: A switching device for switching on and/or switching off an electrical load has an input section for receiving a defined input signal, an output section having an output switching element that provides a current path to the electrical load, and a control section that can be operated in a first active mode of operation or in a second active mode of operation. The control section actuates the output switching element on the basis of the defined input signal in order to close or interrupt the current path. A display element assumes a first display state when the control section is in the first active mode of operation and the output switching element is in the closed operating state. The display element assumes an alternative second display state when the control section is in the first active mode of operation and the output switching element is in the open operating state. The control section interrupts the current path regardless of the defined input signal in the second active mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 10061345
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling an automated installation has a first controller and a second controller that are connected to one another via a communication network. The first and second controllers each have a local clock and execute control tasks. The first and second controllers each further have a synchronization service that is used to synchronize the respective local clocks to a common reference clock. A timer repeatedly sends a trigger message to the first and second controllers. Each of the two controllers, on receiving the trigger message, determines a local time. The controllers interchange the respective local time and each compute a difference between their own local time and the local time obtained from the other controller. On the basis of the difference, each of the two controllers controls a local actuator.
