Abstract: Biocompatible polymers and adhesives have a cyanoacrylic core and other substituents such as therapeutic agents, targeting moieties, imaging agents, amino acid residues or other organic moieties. Exemplary uses of inventive compositions include use as sealants and adhesives for medical uses, and as polymeric formulations for biocompatible implants and matrices and drug delivery.

Abstract: A disposable applicator includes a generally tubular applicator body having a closed proximal end and an open distal end and a frangible vial inside. The proximal end is covered by a drying swab while the distal end is covered by an applicator swab that is in open communication with the interior of the applicator body. Within the applicator body is a frangible vial containing a biomedically useful liquid composition, such as an &agr;-cyanoacrylate adhesive, a medicament, or both. The applicator is useful for applying liquid compositions to target sites such as tissue, particularly sites of topical pathology, such as stomatitis lesions.

Abstract: An adhesive remover composition and methods for removing medical grade and other adhesive compositions including, but not limited to, cyanoacrylate adhesive compositions from surfaces including, but not limited to, areas of tissue, including areas of compromised skin. The composition, which is preferably bio-compatible, includes a suitable remover compound such as an alkylester plasticizer combined with an antimicrobial preservative to protect the composition from microorganisms. A method of removing adhesive compositions includes applying the remover composition to the adhesive composition using an applicator, such as a spray applicator or a towelette, allowing the remover to interact with the adhesive composition and then removing the remover and the adhesive composition.

The applicator can also include a body made of a flexible material that holds at least one crushable ampoule. The protective barrier protects the user's fingers from puncture by shards created during breakage of the crushable ampoule.
