  • Publication number: 20070297963
Abstract: A system for controlling one or more emissions and a method of making thereof includes introducing ammonia to react with at least a portion of sulfur trioxides in an exhaust emission and result in at least one or more ammoniated compounds. At least a portion of fly ash particles and the ammoniated compounds in the exhaust emission are precipitated. At least a portion of the ammonia from the precipitated ammoniated compounds is recovered with heat from the exhaust emission and the recovered ammonia is reused.

  • Patent number: 7306200
Abstract: A controlled rate feeder system for fine particle solids and a method thereof includes a seat-and-backseat structure, a seat plate assembly, a backseat plate assembly, at least one biasing device, and an actuator assembly. The seat-and-backseat structure has an inlet and an outlet which are connected together by at least one passage. The seat plate assembly is moveable to any position between covering and exposing the inlet. The backseat plate assembly is positioned adjacent to and moveable with the seat plate assembly. At least one biasing device is positioned between the seat plate assembly and the backseat plate assembly which biases the seat plate assembly and the backseat assembly apart. The biasing device also biases the seat plate assembly against an inner surface of the seat-and-backseat structure and the backseat plate assembly against another inner surface of the seat-and-backseat structure. The actuator assembly moves the seat plate assembly to any position between covering and exposing the inlet.

  • Patent number: 5399194
Abstract: A method for beneficiating particles of fly ash containing carbon which includes the following steps. The particles of fly ash are introduced into a dry bubbling fluid bed and air is supplied thereto. The fluid bed is operated at a temperature ranging from approximately 800.degree. to 1300.degree. F., during which the air intimately mixes with the particles of fly ash and oxidizes the carbon therein. The beneficiated particles of fly ash are then removed from the fluid bed. The carbon reduction in the particles of fly ash permits these particles to be used as pozzolan to replace a portion of the cement in concrete. An apparatus is provided for performing the method of the invention.
