  • Patent number: 7623036
Abstract: Adjusting a configurable parameter of a data tag reader responsive to data about a moving article to improve reading of a data tag on the article. A controller adjusts the data tag reader as a function of a value related to the data tag, data tag reader, or article. Adjusting the data tag reader provides improved reading of the data tag on the moving article.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 30, 2006

  • Publication number: 20080061940
Abstract: A method and apparatus can provide system (20) for reading radio frequency identification tags (22). The system includes one or more individual readers (24), and each individual reader has an operative power supply (26), antenna (28), and communication system (30) for relaying data from the individual reader to an electronic data collection and management system (32). A computerized electronic processor (34) is separately and remotely located from the readers, and implements a programming of protocols for each antenna and reader. In a particular aspect, the electronic processor can provide digital signal processor logic and protocol code to each reader.

  • Patent number: 7336183
Abstract: Rendering data stored within an electronic data tag unreadable. A receptacle receives an article with the data tag, detects the presence of the electronic data tag, and decommissions the electronic data tag. The receptacle further modifies a label on the article to remove data printed thereon.

  • Patent number: 7221269
Abstract: Moving data tag readers in a portal responsive to a moving article to improve reading of a data tag on the article. Position sensors determine position information for the moving article. A controller module translates a positioning device having a data tag reader mounted thereon responsive to the determined position information. Moving the data tag reader provides improved reading of the data tag on the moving article.
