  • Patent number: 8985044
Abstract: A watertight door system that provides for subdivision of cargo holds, and having a door frame assembly with a sliding door. Conveyor support stringers are movably connected to the sliding door and conveyor idlers are movably connected to and the conveyor support stringers. A linear actuator associated with the door frame assembly selectively actuates the door between an open and closed position, whereby actuation of the door by the hydraulic cylinder causes the conveyor support stringers to move with the door, and the conveyor idlers to be lowered without removal thereof. Belt side plugs are positioned on either side of the door frame assembly, and can move both inwardly against a conveyor belt edge and outwardly from the conveyor belt edge.

  • Patent number: 8740058
Abstract: A modular integrated software and hardware suite can accept data exported from a voter registration database corresponding to requests for mail ballots, sort the data as necessary for ballot preparation, create a road map for ballot mailing preparation, provide for mail presorting, scan returned ballot envelopes using a ballot envelope scanner, and accept data from the scanner. The scanner uses a passive feed system, a separator brush, and a variable speed straight paper path to minimize jamming through the ballot envelope scanner. The scanner can work with a workstation application to interpret a barcode, store an image of the ballot envelope signature in association with a specific voter, print an endorsement on each verified ballot envelope, and store the endorsement with the signature image. The scanner can divert ballot envelopes with unrecognizable or unmatched barcodes to a separate tray for manual processing.

  • Publication number: 20060060649
Abstract: A modular integrated software and hardware suite accepts data exported from a voter registration database corresponding to requests for mail ballots, sorts the information as necessary for ballot preparation, creates a road map for ballot mailing preparation, provides for mail presorting, scans returned ballot envelopes using a ballot envelope scanner, accepts data from such ballot envelope scanner, and matches the data from the scanned returned ballots with information in the voter registration database, sorts ballots that cannot be electronically matched to a particular voter into a separate stack for manual processing, automates the signature verification process for electronically matched ballots, and returns updated data to the voter registration database. A ballot envelope scanner uses a passive feed system, a separator brush, a variable speed straight paper path to minimize jamming through the ballot envelope scanner.

  • Publication number: 20050003408
Abstract: A method of making a set of labelled compounds by the use of a preferably particulate support, comprises dividing the support into lots, performing a different chemical reaction on each lot of the support, e.g. to couple a chemical moiety to that lot of the support, tagging a fraction of each lot of the support with a different label, and combining the said lots of the support. The steps are repeated several times, preferably to build up oligomer molecules carrying labels which identify the nature and position of a monomer unit of the oligomer, and which are releasable from the support. Preferred labels, which are releasable from the compounds by cleavage to provide charged groups for analysis by mass spectrometry, are groups of the trityl (trimethylphenyl) family. Also claimed are libraries of these labels is and their use in assays and nucleic acid analysis methods.

  • Patent number: 4264225
Abstract: A bounce dampening system reduces switch actuator bounce when the actuators are restored to their home position. Included are selection interposers, one of which is selectively driven to thereby effect motion of selection bails and corresponding switch actuators. A reverse interposer is simultaneously driven. A spring restores the reverse interposer after the actuation cycle thereby carrying the bails and switch actuators to their home position. The return spring and the mass of the reverse interposer prevents actuator bounce and insures a timely return of the actuators.
