  • Patent number: 4797909
Abstract: A telephone answering system including a locally or remotely programmable voice synthesizer for transmitting messages is disclosed. The answering system is connected to a particular (local) telephone and is actuated in the usual manner by an incoming call to transmit a predetermined message. The message consists of a sequence of individual words, pauses, or other message segments which are stored in the synthesizer and transmitted in a desired sequence determined by pressing corresponding keys of either the phone to which the system is connected or any remote phone. As the operator of the system presses each key to program a desired message, the word or other message segment is immediately transmitted for the user to hear, thereby providing positive verification of entry. Changes or corrections may be made at any time to one or more individual message segments without the necessity of re-entering the entire message.

  • Patent number: 4685168
Abstract: The invention concerns a system for keeping windshield wiper blades free of ice or snow accumulation. A rectangular strip of transparent material is either affixed to or formed integrally with the windshield to extend outwardly from the surface thereof for a distance of 1/16". The strip is about the same length as the wiper blade and one inch wide. It is positioned with the longitudinal edges parallel to and the lower edge spaced 2" from the rest position of the wiper blade, whereby the blade wipes over both longitudinal edges of the strip in each direction on every cycle of reciprocating blade movement. The dimensions of 1/16" in thickness, 1" in width, and 2" spacing from the blade have been found to provide superior results in optimum blade cleaning with minimal wear on the blade edges, and are therefore considered critical dimensions.

  • Patent number: 4508935
Abstract: A cordless telephone including a base unit and a remote unit that are in wireless communication. The remote unit has a number keyboard whereby code numbers can be entered into the system. A pulse detecting network picks up and identifies the code numbers placed in the remote unit and, in response thereto, controls a variety of electrically responsive devices. The remote control function is carried out without interrupting the voice communication feature of the phone or tying up the subscriber's lines thus providing the user with a degree of mobility not found in similar telephone related control devices.
