Patent number: 10299279Abstract: The invention pertains to a communication system for use in a railway vehicle, comprising: a first communication network (10) and a second communication network (20), the communication networks (10, 20) using physically separate communication media; and a plurality of communication terminals (100, 200), each connected to both communication networks (10, 20). The communication system is adapted to prioritize communications from the communication terminals (100, 200) over the communication networks (10, 20) according to at least two levels of service. A first communication terminal (100) comprises a first functional module (110) and a second functional module (120), the functional module (110, 120) being functionally equivalent, the first functional module (110) being adapted to interface with the first communication network (10) and the second functional module (120) being adapted to interface with the second communication network (20).Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2015Date of Patent: May 21, 2019Assignee: Televic Rail NVInventors: John Gesquiere, Luc Claeys, Bart Vercoutter, Kristof Boerjan, Jan Van Den Oudenhoven

Publication number: 20180097857Abstract: The invention pertains to a method for configuring a wireless conferencing system comprising conference terminals, each being equipped with a transceiver adapted to operate in an omnidirectional and a directional mode. In a discovery phase, for each pair of conference terminals, the directions in which direct wireless signal exchange is possible are discovered by pairwise operating a the terminals in omnidirectional and directional mode, one terminal being operated so as to vary a direction of operation. A direction in which direct signal exchange is possible is selected as an active transmission direction. In an operational phase, signals are sent between the conference terminals, using the active transmission direction. In a recovery phase, a second direction is selected as a new active transmission direction, and signals are sent between the terminals, using the new active transmission direction. The invention also pertains to a corresponding computer program product and system.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2016Publication date: April 5, 2018Applicant: Televic Conference NVInventors: John GESQUIERE, Vincent SOUBRY, Pieter CARDOEN, Stefaan VLAEMYNCK

Patent number: 9709661Abstract: The invention pertains to a method and system for determining a location of an identification tag (100) in a monitored area. The method comprises using a plurality of beacons (200) to broadcast (2010) beacon messages comprising an identification element relating to the originating beacon; receiving (2020) at a first set of beacons a localization message from an identification tag (100), the tag having received (1010) a beacon message, extracted (1020) the identification element from the received beacon message, and transmitted (1030) information related to the identification element as part of the localization message; performing (3010) a first level of localization of the tag on the basis of characteristics of the respective copies of the localization message received at the first set of beacons; and performing (3020) a second level of localization of the tag on the basis of the information related to the identification element.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 2015Date of Patent: July 18, 2017Assignee: Televic Healthcare NVInventors: Pieter Crombez, John Gesquiere
