  • Patent number: 6796518
Abstract: A multi-function showerhead filter system includes a ball-like swivel-mounted inlet joint having a fluid input to the housing, the inlet joint including a fluid input cavity converging, at a distal end, into a venturi outlet. The system also includes a pressure chamber formed within the housing, downstream of the venturi outlet and in fluid communication with it, the chamber having an inlet at least equal to a largest radius of the venturi outlet. The system also includes a turbulence-inducing water filter cartridge secured within the housing downstream of the pressure chamber and having an inlet surface in fluid and mechanical communication with it. The system further includes an output within the housing, secured downstream of the filter cartridge and in fluid communication with it, the output of which is passed through the cartridge, into one of the function modes of spraying, bubbling and massaging.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 25, 2002
Date of Patent: September 28, 2004

  • Patent number: 6599428
Abstract: An improved filter device for the removal of contaminants from water and method of using same. The present invention comprises an outer housing having an inlet at one end for water to be purified and an outlet for purified water at an opposing end thereof. An inner filter is situated within and in fluid communication with the outer housing to remove contaminants from the water. Within the inner filter is an inner filter housing. Within the inner filter housing is at least one uniform region of dispersed granular copper media. A filter pad is positioned within the inner filter housing. Further, a region of granular activated carbon is positioned opposite the uniform region by the filter pad.

  • Patent number: 5975434
Abstract: A showerhead system with internal filtration media includes a fluid-tight pressure housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, the outlet substantially co-axial with the inlet, the housing having a substantially cylindrical internal surface. The system further includes several porous radial disks axially disposed internally to the pressure housing and having circumferential edges in integral communication with the internal cylindrical surface of the pressure housing. The system also include filtration media positional within regions defined between the porous disks. The system additionally includes at least one rigid radial disk axially disposed within the axial distribution of the plurality of porous disks, the rigid disk including groups of apertures. The rigid disk may or may not have an integral securement to the internal cylindrical surface of the pressure housing such that its axial position, within the system, is defined by filtration media packed on either side of it.
