  • Patent number: 6179879
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a tanned leather product that is impregnated with a plurality of microspheres containing a temperature stabilizing material. The present invention is also directed to a tanning process for embedding the microspheres into the leather. The thermal stabilizing material is a phase change material that allows the leather to have enhanced thermal properties when exposed to heat or cold.

  • Patent number: 5979083
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a two-layer outsole for use with a shoe. The outsole includes an outer layer, an inner layer, and a longitudinally extending axis. The outer layer forms the bottom of the outsole and has a plurality of first holes at spaced locations therethrough. The inner layer includes a base adjacent one side of the outer layer and a plurality of projections that extend from the base through the first holes in the outer layer, and terminate in a pointed free end. The projections protrude from the bottom of the outsole, and provide traction when the outsole interacts with the ground. The free end also forms a ridge. The ridge of each projection is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. In one embodiment, each projection has an outline with a tear-drop shape. It has been found that when projections with this configuration are used with non-metal cleats, excellent traction is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5540384
Abstract: An ultrasonic spray coating system includes a converter which converts high frequency electrical energy into high frequency mechanical energy thereby producing vibrations. The converter has a resonant frequency. A spray head is coupled to the converter and is resonant at the resonant frequency of the converter. The spray head has an atomizing surface and a feed blade to the atomizing surface and concentrates the vibrations of the converter at the atomizing surface. A source of high frequency alternating voltage is electrically connected to the converter and produces a controlled level of electrical energy at the resonant frequency of the spray head and converter whereby the atomizing surface is vibrated ultrasonically. A fluid supply applicator is in close proximity with the feed blade to the atomizing surface and spaced therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5520978
Abstract: A curable coating composition comprising an ethylenically unsaturated organopolysiloxane base polymer, an organohydrogenpolysiloxane crosslinking agent, an effective amount of a precious metal containing hydrosilylation catalyst, and from 0.1 to 20 weight percent of a higher alkenyl-functional organopolysiloxane gum. The incorporation of the gum provides a composition which cures rapidly to a low coefficient of friction coating having stable release over time.

  • Patent number: 5178173
Abstract: An ultrasonic contact lens cleaning device has a housing with a hemispherical cover hingedly affixed to it. A container for a lens cleaning solution is mounted in the housing. An acoustic resonant structure in the housing is coupled to the container. The structure has piezoelectric components. A frequency modulated power circuit in the housing is electrically connected to and drives the acoustic resonant structure and provides a controlled level of ultrasonic cleaning energy.

  • Patent number: 4642581
Abstract: A drive circuit for an ultrasonic atomizer comprising a switching mode power driver circuit and an oscillator circuit to drive the power driver circuit with a signal proportional to the phase response of the atomizer's transducer element so as to fix the frequency of the power delivered to the atomizer at the frequency of the transducer. The oscillator circuit has an oscillator which generates and supplies said drive signal, an integrated circuit phase-locked loop in a feedback loop arrangement to detect the transducer's phase response and signal the oscillator to shift its drive signal frequency to the transducer's frequency and a second order low pass filter to control the rate of the oscillator frequency shift.
