  • Patent number: 7203288
Abstract: A portable digital voice recorder is interfaced for data communication with a personal computer. The personal computer is connected by a data communication network with other devices such as other personal computers, a central dictation system, and/or a voice mail system. Voice data files previously generated by dictating information into the portable recorder are stored in the portable recorder and then uploaded to the personal computer. The voice data files include header data associated with the voice data files. The personal computer reads the header data and automatically forwards the voice data file to one or more of the other devices on the basis of information contained in the header data.

  • Patent number: 6671567
Abstract: A portable digital voice recorder is interfaced for data communication with a personal computer. Voice data files are stored in the portable recorder together with header data which indicates the status of the voice data files. In response to a batch upload command, selected ones of the voice data files are uploaded to the personal computer, depending on the status of the voice data files as indicated by the status data. Graphical user interface software running in the PC causes the PC to display icons indicative of voice data files stored in the portable recorder. The header data in the portable recorder may be changed by operation of the PC's graphical user interface. For example, file designations indicated by header data in the portable recorder may be changed by editing corresponding fields displayed by the PC.

  • Patent number: 6571211
Abstract: A portable audio recorder stores voice information files in the form of digital data. Header data is associated with each voice information file. The header data includes the name of the person who dictated the voice information file and the serial number of the recorder unit itself. This information may be used in connection with management of the voice information files in the recorder or after the files are transferred to another device such as a personal computer. The header data may also include the serial number of the recorder and a work facility location to which the file pertains. The user of the recorder may be permitted to select a format for the header data from among a plurality of pre-stored formats. Specific transaction data may be downloaded to the recorder, and used to build a header for a voice file, which is then uploaded with the header to another device.

  • Patent number: 6038199
Abstract: A portable digital audio recorder provides a first set of control or editing options with respect to a first category of voice data files stored in the recorder, and provides a different set of control or editing options with respect to a second category of voice data files stored in the recorder. The recorder may also be conveniently shared among a number of users and adapts various operating parameters to the preferences of the current user.

  • Patent number: 5465925
Abstract: A helicopter external cargo suspension system (12) has load sensors (19,20) at each suspension point for sensing the magnitude of a load (32) at each suspension point. A delay period (FIG. 6) is determined based on the magnitude of the load, and a load is released if one of the following failure modes occurs for a period which exceed the delay period: one of the suspension points is unloaded, the magnitude of the load exceeds a maximum threshold magnitude, or if the distribution of the load, as indicated by the difference in magnitude at each suspension point, exceeds a difference threshold magnitude. If the magnitude of the load is below a minimum threshold magnitude, the load will be carried by one of the suspension points in response to a failure of the other suspension points.
