  • Patent number: 6394029
Abstract: Apparatus for spraying the teats of animals rotating on a milking platform. During a spray cycle: a spray head located below the platform is actuable to spray each animal; the spray head completes one horizontal reciprocating movement, being driven forward by engagement with the platform and driven backward by a counterweight raised during the forward movement; the spray head is also raised and then lowered through an opening in the platform, this vertical movement actuated by a cam follower associated with the horizontal movement. Elements are provided for aligning the spray head with the opening, engaging and disengaging with a plurality of pin members on the platform.

  • Patent number: 6189288
Abstract: The invention disclosed is for a manner of construction of an elevated annular platform, generally elevated and which rotates. The platform includes a means of rotation between the annulus and the foundation. The platform is formed of reinforced concrete material, poured in one pour. The mould for the platform comprises a plurality of bail sections which, in number, correspond to the bails of the finished platform, and inner and outer edgings. Each bail section includes support sides, which are secured to the inner and outer edgings, and a base panel. The panels are made from a material which, when the annulus is formed, bonds to the concrete to form a unitary structure. The moulding thus forms an integral part of the completed platform, and is not removed after construction.

  • Patent number: 5782738
Abstract: A method for constructing in situ an elevated annular platform. The steps include a) erecting a curved flanged support beam, b) locating a plurality of metal sheets about each side of the beam, c) positioning a supporting structure for the support of the sheets, d) locating an upright edging in defining a mold cooperantly with the sheets, e) positioning and securing reinforcing material within the mold, f) securing packaging within the mold, g) filling the mold, and h) removing the supporting structure and sheets.

  • Patent number: 5687673
Abstract: A rotary milking platform with a means of entrance and egress of animals in which each milking bail (4) is defined by two restraining rails (5). The angle of the bails (.alpha.) and the direction of rotation of the platform (arrow A) are both either clockwise or counter-clockwise so that a milked animal leaving via the exit means (7) can be seen by the next animal on the platform (2) to finish milking. The exit path (7) incorporates a curved restraining rail (8) against which an animal leaving the platform (2) is backed such that only the animal's front feet remain on the platform (2). The movement of the platform (2) turns the animal (Arrow E) and the shape and placement of the curved restraining rail (8) guides the animal to the exit means (7). The entrance pathway (6) is radially aligned so that an animal entering the platform (arrow B) is oriented to step onto the annulus (3) into a bail (4).
