  • Patent number: 9714447
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to characterization of biological samples by amplification detection in a porous substrate. By way of example, a porous substrate may include amplification reagents configured to provide a signal when released during amplification. When a sample is applied, amplification occurs as a wavefront from the application point, and the time that the wavefront reaches a distance on the porous substrate is related to an initial concentration of the sample applied. By detecting the distance traveled by the amplification products at one or more time points, an initial concentration of the sample may be estimated.

  • Publication number: 20170183162
Abstract: A reconfigurable chain guide system is described herein. In one example, movable and stationary pieces of chain guide define a chain path. An actuator moves the movable piece of chain guide between first and second positions with respect to the stationary piece of chain guide. A length of the chain path is not changed when the movable piece of chain guide is moved between the first and second positions. This may be accomplished, for example, if the movable piece includes first and second curved segments, which contact the chain in the first and second positions of the movable piece of chain guide, respectively. In an operational example, a chain traveling the chain path may carry a flight lug, which may engage or not engage cases moving on a conveyor depending on a position of the movable piece of chain guide.

  • Patent number: 9638714
Abstract: A structure and method for providing a contact pin between a device under test (DUT) and a load board which provides upper and lower contact point which are axial aligned is disclosed. The pin has an upper (30) and lower (32) section and a hinge in between which allow flex of both upper and lower contact (24/26) which, but the axial alignment can provide a direct replacement for POGO pins but with greater reliability. It also includes a structure and method for removing upper pins 230 by use of a modified hinge 244a. In an alternate embodiment, the lower section includes a leg extension 320 and a sliding contact land 360 which slides against an aperture in the housing. A spacer 342 provides space for decoupling components on the load board. The hinge may include a truncated cylinder 40b which is configured to permit remove of the upper pin without removal of the lower.

  • Publication number: 20160280527
Abstract: An alcoholic beverage forming apparatus operable to dispense an alcoholic beverage having a desired flavor, proof, temperature, and volume mixes water and alcohol with a flavor medium to form an alcoholic beverage having a desired flavor that may be dispensed from the apparatus. The apparatus includes a capsule holder, a water supply reservoir and an alcohol supply reservoir. The reservoirs are operable to respectively supply water and alcohol to a mixing manifold of the apparatus to such that the water and alcohol are combined in the mixing manifold to form an alcoholic beverage mixture which is subsequently mixed with a flavor medium contained in an interior of a beverage capsule. • Patent number: 9360125
Abstract: An integrated valve assembly, which integrates two check valves and a solenoid assembly which functions as a purge valve. When the solenoid assembly is in an open position, during a first mode of operation, vacuum pressure places the first check valve in an open position and the second check valve in a closed position, and during a second mode of operation, pressurized air places the first check valve in a closed position, and vacuum pressure generated by a venturi valve member places the second check valve in an open position. Each check valve utilizes a nylon insert along with an over molded rubber seal. The design of the check valves prevents actuation at low vacuums and flows when the vehicle is shut off. The integrated valve assembly eliminates the need for an OBD relief valve, and simplifies the EVAP system, saving costs, complexity, and eliminates several possible leak connections.

  • Patent number: 9092313
Abstract: An embodiment described herein includes a method for input channel voting. The method includes steps for sorting the three input values by magnitude into a high input value, a middle input value, and a low input value. The three input values are then tested. The testing includes subtracting the middle input value form the high input value to calculate a first difference, and comparing an absolute value of the first difference to a failure threshold. A first intermediate value is determined based on the comparison of the first difference to the failure threshold. The testing also includes subtracting the middle input value from the low input value to calculate a second difference, and comparing the second difference to the failure threshold. A second intermediate value is determined based on this comparison. The first intermediate value and second intermediate value are averaged to produce an output based on the three input values.

  • Publication number: 20150150711
Abstract: A therapeutic device has a body (2) with a shoulder-engaging part (12) and a chest-engaging part (11) and elevated pivot supports (12) extending upwardly from the shoulder-engaging part (12) at locations to be on opposed sides of a patient's head in use. A head support (3) with a chin cradle (35) is pivotally connected by pivot joints (20) to the pivot supports (12). Torsion springs (24) bias the head support (3) upwardly. Sensors wirelessly provide data to a processor such as a smartphone so that the extent of movement of the head support can be monitored.

  • Patent number: 9010909
Abstract: A method of printing an image with a continuous inkjet printer system employing a jetting module including a nozzle in fluid communication with a liquid ink source and a catcher including a liquid drop contact face; wherein the liquid ink is an aqueous inkjet black ink comprising a black colorant and at least one surfactant selected to provide a 10-ms dynamic surface tension of less than 54 mN/m. Full color images may be printed by further employing at least second, third and fourth jetting modules and yellow, magenta and cyan inks each also comprising a surfactant selected to provide a 10-ms dynamic surface tension of less than 54 mN/m for each ink. The ink compositions provide for fluid properties on the drop catcher face that minimize printing defects that can occur during drop deflection during the printing of high dynamic range images at high speed.
