  • Patent number: 6912231
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for managing bandwidth and prioritizing different forms of data to be transmitted from a central hub or node to a plurality of ground stations. All data of all types including image data and text data is processed into frames of TCP formatted data at the central hub or node and passed through a bandwidth flow control system which imposes flow control on the data. Some of the TCP formatted data has inserted therein a conversion flag which denotes a desire to convert the TCP formatted data into UDP formatted data. A computer or controller/converter reads the conversion flags and converts TCP formatted data into UDP formatted data for multi-broadcasting simultaneously to a plurality of ground stations which reduces bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 6847619
Abstract: In a data link communications system there is provided a dual mode of operation multiple access system for communication between a plurality of spoke stations and a central hub station which generates a spoke epoch time comprising a plurality of time division slots in which a spoke station can communicate a priority interrupt request to the central hub station. The spoke epoch time comprises one or more dedicated spoke time slots in which only one hub station may transmit to the hub station to the exclusion of all other spoke stations. The spoke epoch time further comprising one or more priority interrupt request time slots in which all spoke stations can transmit priority interrupt requests to the hub station. Controller means in the hub station provides for evaluating priority interrupt requests from the spoke stations and for granting transmission access to one of said spoke stations during predetermined time slots in the next spoke epoch time.

  • Patent number: 6501808
Abstract: A data link network system comprising a central node airborne station and a plurality of ground stations each having multi-channel transmitter/receiver capable of transmitting quadrature phase spread spectrum signals and in phase spread spectrum signals both of which contain data. One of said quadrature channels is maintained as a master channel which provides a master time of day clock in the airborne platform of the network system and the other channel is employed as an adjustable time of day clock channel for resynchronizing ground stations after an outage. When an outage occurs between the airborne station and one of the ground stations the airborne station calculates the propagation time to the ground station and shifts the adjustable channel to transmit a spread spectrum data signal which will arrive in synchronization with the time of day in the ground station that had the outage.

  • Patent number: 6408017
Abstract: In a high speed, high processing gain PN spread spectrum acquisition system an analog signal comprising a high speed PN code is received and converted to a high speed digital format. A demuxer is employed to divided the high speed digital signal into lower speed multiplexed portions. The lower speed multiplexed portions of the digital signal are processed in a plurality of parallel channels which employ correlators coupled to coherent accumulators and non-coherent accumulators coupled to the output of the coherent accumulators to provide a signal having sufficient energy to permit detection of one of a plurality of partial PN replica codes as the one code which is synchronized with the received analog signal comprising a high speed PN code and to synchronize with the PN replica code generator.

  • Patent number: 6201786
Abstract: In a data link system a master station is provided with transmitting apparatus capable of transmitting quadrature phase signal components representative of two diverse products either or both of which may comprise radar picture products. The dual input channels to the transmitter comprise an in-phase channel and a quadrature channel for receiving data representative of two diverse products. Independent controllers are provided in each of the dual channels capable of apportioning the power in the respective channels. A multi-mode processor is coupled to the controller in each of the dual channels so that independent control of data rates, power and picture product being transmitted is achieved.

  • Patent number: 6154451
Abstract: In a multi-mode dual channlel data link there is provided a method for automatically controlling or allocating a predetermined amount of power to each of the dual channels. Two diverse product signal are transmitted from a master station down link to a plurality of ground stations. The ground stations receive the diverse product signals and individually determine the integrity of each product signal and transmit the product integrity information and a station identifier back to the master station. The master station processes the integrity information and reallocates a predetermined percentage of total power to be transmitted from each of the dual channels to achieve a predetermined product integrity at one or more of the plurality of ground stations.

  • Patent number: 5737372
Abstract: In a spread spectrum multipoint-to-point communication system there is provided a novel frequency to phase converter, for automatically synchronizing the PN codes of the user transmitters/receiver with the receiver/transmitter in the central hub. The highly accurate frequency to phase converter generates a highly accurate phase error signal for synchronizing the multiuser network. The frequency to phase converter includes a serial adder and a series to parallel converter and a shift register which integrates the highly accurate phase error signal values and produces a highly accurate frequency value which is applied to the input of the resident processor in the central hub transmitter/receiver. The central hub transmitter/receiver calculates the clock offset for synchronizing each of the user receiver transmitters and generates a clock adjusting signal which is transmitted to the user receiver/transmitters.
