  • Patent number: 8654262
Abstract: A simple antenna is connected to the RF input port on a conventional digital TV to receive video content from a plurality of video content sources wirelessly. The wireless RF transmission by a local transmitter has a range generally limited to within a home or room. The low power RF transmission is on a carrier frequency that is legally authorized by the FCC in frequency and power level. To identify the open channels for the RF transmission, a tuner scans for weak channels, and the transmitter is tuned to transmit on the detected weak channels.

  • Patent number: 8341678
Abstract: A method is provided for a system to display media contents from source devices on television channels of a television. The method includes receiving a channel change command from a remote control, where the channel change command causes the television to display a new television channel. The method further includes, in response to the channel change command, changing a frequency of a radio frequency (RF) carrier of a television RF signal to a frequency of the new television channel, determining one of the source devices assigned to the new television channel, and providing the television RF signal to the television, where the television RF signal includes a media content from the assigned source device.

  • Patent number: 8063996
Abstract: A simple antenna is connected to the RF input port on a conventional digital TV to receive video content from a plurality of video content sources wirelessly. The video content sources, such as a DVD player and cable/satellite box, may generate baseband signals in a variety of formats. The baseband signals are connected to a remote converter for converting the baseband signals to a low power RF transmission having a standard format typically received at the digital TV's RF input. The RF transmission has a range generally limited to within a home or room. The small antenna connected to the RF input of the digital TV will typically be located behind the TV so as not to be seen. The low power RF transmission is on a carrier frequency that is legally authorized by the FCC in frequency and power level.

  • Patent number: 6898571
Abstract: A technique for providing enhanced advertising over the Internet or an intranet is disclosed. In one embodiment, an advertiser advertises a product or service in the usual manner except that an alphanumeric code is identified in the advertisement. The consumer, desiring additional information regarding the advertisement, uses the Internet to log onto a particular website common to all the advertisers (the service provider's website) and then enters the code for the ad. The particular code then accesses an enhanced ad (a web page) that may be specifically directed to a particular geographic location or otherwise customized for the particular consumer. The enhanced ad may allow the customer to obtain coupons, purchase the product or obtain additional information.

  • Patent number: 6832388
Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, a conventional home computer is connected via the Internet to a link broadcasting computer that is being accessed by many other households. The link broadcasting computer receives the same television signals (including ATVEF signals or other datacast signals) received by the home televisions of the various users. The link broadcasting computer detects the ATVEF signals embedded in the vertical blanking interval of each television channel and communicates to each user's home computer only the ATVEF information for the particular television channel(s) previously identified by the user. The user can then access a website identified by the information. Various options are further described herein.

  • Publication number: 20020016820
Abstract: A system and method for distributing in real-time interactive data extracted from a video signal to a plurality of client computers via a computer network. A plurality of data source computers extract the interactive data from the video signals, and forward them to a distribution server. The distribution server buffers the interactive data and broadcasts the interactive data to a Web server cluster. A program executing on each client computer periodically sends updation requests to the Web server cluster to retrieve new interactive data for display to the user. A re-direct server receives a user request for access to a remote computer resource identified in the interactive data, and re-directs the user request to the remote computer resource. A computer program operating within a Web server and the distribution server further enables script files containing additional interactive data to be created and processed by the system.
