    Abstract: A circulation process for the production of (cyclo)aliphatic diisocyanates, in which the biscarbamate is produced from diamines, by-products from the thermal cracking, urea, and alcohol in the presence of N-unsubstituted carbamates and dialkyl carbonates, and with separation of NH.sub.3 ; the subsequent cracking of the biscarbamate is carried out in the liquid phase without solvent; the diisocyanate and alcohol are condensed; the diisocyanate is subjected to a purifying distillation; and a portion of the cracking reaction mixture is discharged with the by-products formed and recycled to the biscarbamate production step after prior reaction with the crude alcohol formed, effectively utilizes the by-products formed in the cracking step and is an industrially practical and economical process.

    Abstract: Cis-2,6-dimethylmorpholine is manufactured by catalytic isomerization of trans-2,6-dimethylmorpholine. A previously hydrogen-activated copper chromite catalyst is used for catalytic isomerization of the trans-2,6-dimethylmorpholine. The catalyst preferably also contains barium oxide and/or manganese dioxide. The process is carried out at 180.degree.-300.degree. C. and 1-500 bar absolute. The inexpensive novel catalyst enables conversions which are better than those with known methods.

    Abstract: Isocyanate-uretdiones having the formula: ##STR1## wherein the R groups are identical or different and are hydrocarbon groups having the formulas: ##STR2## and n is an integral or fractional number from 1 to 5. Production of the isocyanate-uretdiones, which can be dissociated by heat up to an extent of greater than 70%, is accomplished through dimerization of aliphatic diisocyanates having the formula: ##STR3## with a phosphine catalyst having the formula:X.sub.m P(NR.sub.2).sub.3-mwherein:m is 0, 1 or 2;x is a --Cl, --OR or --R group, wherein R is identical or different alkyl-, arylalkyl-, cycloalkyl, or alkyl-substituted cycloalkyl groups. The reaction temperatures are 0.degree.-80.degree. C.The reaction product is subjected to thin-layer distillation after a conversion of 5-70%, by weight, without deactivation of the catalyst. The compounds of the present invention are useful as intermediates in the production of starting materials for the production of polyurethanes.
