Patent number: 9194486Abstract: A method for actuating a shift element of an automatic transmission having a start-stop function and a pressure medium pump driven by an internal combustion engine. The shifting elements are clutches or brakes that can be actuated by a piston which is actuated for engagement via pressure supplied to a pressure space. The pressure space is depressurized when the engine stops. To enhance start-stop operation, the shifting elements comprise an additional pressure space that acts, in opposition to the pressure space acting in the engaging direction, as a controllable restoring mechanism which can be rendered inactive, if desired. If the engine stops and the automatic start-stop function is activated, the additional pressure spaces, acting in the restoring direction, are depressurized before the pressure drop in the pressure spaces, acting in the engaging direction, of the pistons, but are otherwise permanently pressurized during driving operation.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2015Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: ZF Friedrichshafen AGInventors: Horst Rogner, Josef Haupt

Patent number: 9109611Abstract: A device for storing fluid, of a transmission hydraulic system, having at least one storage chamber that is defined by a housing and a delimiting device, which can be connected with the hydraulic system. The volume of the chamber depends on operation of the delimiting device and/or the housing. The delimiting device and/or housing can be set such that the storage chamber has a defined volume, in opposition to a restoring effort of the housing and/or delimiting device, starting from an operating condition which differs from the operating condition equivalent to the minimum volume of the storage chamber toward their operating condition equivalent to the minimum storage chamber volume. When the holding device is actuated, the operating conditions of the delimiting device and/or the housing assembly vary between operating conditions in which the storage chamber volume is either a maximum or corresponds to the defined storage chamber volume.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2012Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignee: ZF Friedrichshafen AGInventor: Josef Haupt

Patent number: 9017195Abstract: An arrangement for supplying oil to a chain drive which drives a transmission oil pump that is axially offset relative to a torque converter and embedded in an intermediate plate in a vehicle having a torque converter. The driven sprocket of the chain drive is supported by a converter neck mounted in a centering plate. A seal is provided between the converter neck and the sprocket and is arranged adjacent the sliding fit between the converter neck and the sprocket. To compensate for the suppression of lubrication of the seal, the neck bearing and the chain drive, a valve is integrated in the intermediate plate, and a duct is provided in the plane, in which the centering plate is screwed to the intermediate plate, such that excess oil flowing from the valve is selectively directed to the seal, the neck bearing and the chain drive.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2012Date of Patent: April 28, 2015Assignee: ZF Friedrichshafen AGInventors: Josef Haupt, Horst Roegner
