  • Patent number: 4743900
Abstract: An electronic cam switching mechanism is used instead of a mechanical cam switching mechanism of a stamping machine or press. The former comprises a write/read memory which conducts track-wise characterizing signals ("0," "1," and "01," "10," "00"), address-controled by a travel distance measuring device to subsequent devices, by means of which the control signals corresponding to the binary positions of the mechanical cams are formed.

  • Patent number: 4701878
Abstract: In order to feed to pluggable electronic modules addresses for an address-controlled data exchange with a control unit, a module code characterizing the type of module is stored in each module in a first memory. A plug location code is further communicated to each module via a transmitter. During an initialization phase, all modules are addressed via the plug location codes and communicate to the control unit their respective module codes. The control unit thereupon communicates the relevant addresses to the modules by addressing the plug location codes, which then are used for further data exchange. The relevant address for each module is stored in a second memory of each module.

  • Patent number: 4684862
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the motion of machine tool components about or along respective axes comprises a plurality of structurally identical processors each capable of controlling one complex motion or a plurality of simple motions. Each processor receives desired position values from a numerical control unit and has access to a first memory storing actual position values and a second memory storing desired rates of motion generated by the processors.

  • Patent number: 4268786
Abstract: A position pickup for numerically controlled machine tools having a resolver which is fed on the primary side by two voltages shifted 90.degree. relative to each other and which is coupled to the moving machine part. The voltages are generated in a digital sine-cosine generator made of decimal frequency divider stages. When the secondary voltage in the resolver goes through zero, as detected by a comparator coupled thereto through a filter, the state of the generator is transferred to a memory and serves as the actual position value. To compensate for phase drift in the filter used on the secondary side, the filter is connected at fixed intervals to a reference signal derived from the primary side and changes in the measured values so obtained, and stored in the memory, used for correcting the actual position value.
