  • Publication number: 20240060361
Abstract: A cambered screen has multiple frame members that form a frame in a first plane. At least one of the members is cambered in a second plane that is transverse to the first plane. A screening mesh is applied to the frame to create the screen. When installed in a window or door frame channel, the cambered screen cooperates with the walls of the channel to secure the screen in the channel.

  • Publication number: 20220298856
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a flexible screen frame from a flat wire having a coating includes bending the wire to substantially match the desired shape of the screen frame. The flat wire has a first end and a second end and the coating is removed from both ends to create bare wire portions that can be welded. A shrink tube is then slid onto the wire and moved away from the ends to be welded. Then, the ends are welded together and the shrink tube is used to cover the bare wire portions and the weld point. A screen mesh is then melted onto the frame.

  • Publication number: 20220056760
Abstract: Disclosed are bumpers for ensuring a screen frame remains where it is placed in a window or door opening when there is insufficient retaining mechanisms. Methods for assisting with the installation and retainer of screens into window or door frames are also provided. The bumpers are made from a deformable and resilient material such as a dense elastomer and are attached to a distal surface of the screen frames using adhesive tape or glue. When the screen is installed, the bumper deforms and uses frictional force to keep the screen in place.

  • Publication number: 20200232274
Abstract: Disclosed are gaskets and methods for assisting with the installation and retainer of screens into window or door frames. The gasket is made with a deformable and resilient material such as a dense elastomer and is attached to a distal surface of the screens using adhesive tape or glue. When the screen is installed, the gasket deforms and creates an enlarged surface area of gasket material that uses frictional force to keep the screen in place.

  • Publication number: 20160090780
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for installing and removing a flexible framed window screen and door screen. The flexible frame window and door screen may be forced into a specialized deformed or contorted shape that may then be inserted into the receiving grooves of a window frame. The frame is adapted to be easily deformed and to spring back to its defined shape due to a spring-like characteristic. The screen mesh may be fixed to the frame by means of melting the mesh to the frame to form a unitary window or door screen.

  • Patent number: 9234388
Abstract: Screens for use in door or window openings are disclosed. The screens have a screen frame having at least one portion fabricated from a material possessing spring-like characteristics and a screen mesh that is secured to the screen frame to cover the door or window opening. The screen frame and screen mesh are in tension when the screen resides in the door or window opening. The screen frame may be deformed temporarily, due to its fabrication, allow for simple and easy removal and insertion of the screens into the door or window opening.

  • Publication number: 20140290880
Abstract: Screens are disclosed which are adapted to be retained within two parallel receiving grooves of a door or window opening. The screens have a frame which forms an aperture and a mesh material, the mesh material being fixedly attached to the frame so as cover the aperture. The frame has a pair of side members each of which is adapted to be received within a respective one of the receiving grooves. At least one of the side members is made of an elastic material and has a transverse width-to-thickness ratio of no more than about 1.5.
