    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to improving maximum transmit power in multi-carrier reverse-link transmission. In one aspect, a method of carrier management for a multi-carrier reverse link transmission is disclosed. A method can include transmitting a reverse link signal on a plurality of carriers, and the reverse link signal including payload data and overhead data. A method can funnel payload data onto a first carrier of the plurality of carriers, while maintaining transmission of the overhead data on all the carriers of the plurality of carriers. In response to one or more obtained network traffic parameters, the base station simulcast controller module may modify the simulcasting group to include at least one different remote antenna unit. Methods operational on base station may include transmitting downlink transmissions over a plurality of remote antenna units, where two or more of the remote antenna units form a simulcasting group. The simulcasting group can be modified to include at least one different remote antenna unit in response to one or more obtained network traffic parameters.

The access terminal selectively switches from the first RxD state to a second RxD state utilizing three or more receive chains dependent upon the link quality metrics, such that the energy per bit of the second RxD state is more energy efficient than the energy per bit of the first RxD state.

    Abstract: Multiple channels of received data are processed by a multiple channel demodulation and error correction decoding engine. The statistical uncertainty of processing channels with an iterative decoder are averaged across all the channels to reduce the total processing power required of the decoding engine compared to processing each channel with a separate engine. A set of input buffers holds blocks of data for each channel needing decoding. A quality measure is computed on each input block to set the priority and iteration allocation of decoding in the common decoder. The input RF signal is digitized by a broadband tuner that processes some or all of the channels to feed the multiple channel demodulator and decoder. Multiple decoded video data streams are output.

In an example, a FL SINR is estimated for each user in a plurality of users, on at least one of each user's respective data rate control (DRC) message or each user's respective prior FL SINR value. The respective estimated FL SINR for a user in the plurality of users is increased, if, based on a reverse link acknowledge message, the user has decoded a packet before all symbols in the packet have been transmitted. Remaining control channel power is determined. The estimated FL SINR for all users in the plurality of users is increased if remaining control channel power is less than a low threshold. The estimated FL SINR for all users in the plurality of users is increased if the remaining control channel power is greater than a high threshold.
