  • Patent number: 11800949
Abstract: The present invention provides improved spectral signature strategies for use in a wide range of product and service applications. The present invention encodes spectral signature features into one or more optical brightener compounds and/or one or more infrared absorbing compounds. Equipment is modified with appropriate ultraviolet/violet or infrared LED illumination sources and corresponding detectors, optionally optical filters, and optionally mask elements, in order to read the spectral responses. These features desirably are used in combination with one or more other luminescent taggant compounds.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 16, 2023
Date of Patent: October 31, 2023
    Assignee: MICROTRACE, LLC.
Inventors: Brian John Brogger, Joseph Thomas Ippoliti, Blake Maxwell Roeglin, Brian Thomas Bustrom

  • Publication number: 20220258521
Abstract: The present invention allows spectral codes to be accurately and consistently deployed for a wide range of labels and substrates or products. Spectral codes provided by one or more taggants are incorporated into transferable images so that these images can be prepared separately under accurate, controlled conditions and then transferred onto labels or other substrates. The transferable images that include one or more taggants further include a metal foil layer that is both highly opaque and thin so that the foil is highly compatible with image transfer techniques.

  • Patent number: 8148173
Abstract: Disclosed are compounds having the formula: wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, amino, N—C1-C6-alkylamino, and N,N—C1-C6-dialkylamino; and ring “A” is selected from the group consisting of unsubstituted or substituted C4-C8-cycloalkenyl, unsubstituted or substituted bicyclo[2,2,1]alkenyl, and unsubstituted or substituted bicyclo[2,2,2]alkenyl, unsubstituted phenyl, and phenyl substituted with a moiety selected from the group consisting of C3-C6-alkenyl, acryl, acryl-C1-C6 alkyl, acrylamido, and acrylamido-C1-C6 alkyl; polymers made from these compounds, and ELISAs that use the compounds and polymers as a chemiluminescent detection label.

  • Publication number: 20080286812
Abstract: Disclosed is an assay for detecting an analyte. The method includes the steps of contacting a solution suspected of containing the analyte with capture antibodies specific for the analyte, wherein analyte contained in the solution is captured by the capture antibodies. Then contacting the capture antibodies with a solution containing the analyte attached to an alcohol oxidase (AOX) enzyme, to yield captured, labeled analyte. Then contacting the capture antibodies with a reagent mixture that generates a first signal proportional to the captured, labeled analyte and quantifying the first signal. And then measuring concentration of the analyte in the unknown sample by comparing the first signal to standard curve of signals. The assay can be implemented in an ELISA format.

  • Patent number: 6211374
Abstract: The present invention provides water-soluble, pyran-based photochromic compounds characterized by improved stability when in an open, excited configuration. The advantages of the present invention are provided, at least in part, by functionalizing a pyran-based photochromic compound with carboxylate functionality in such a way that the carboxylate and/or its counter ion have sufficient mobility to engage in intermolecular and intramolecular interactions. In preferred embodiments, such a mobile carboxylate and/or counter ion provided on one side of an open pyran ring is preferably capable of complexing with functionality on the other side of the open pyran ring, greatly stabilizing the open configuration.
