  • Patent number: 10657739
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving on-board diagnostic (OBD) data from an OBD port of a vehicle, receiving tire pressure data from one or more tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensors, and receiving accelerometer data from one or more accelerometers. The method further includes determining, based on at least some of the OBD data and at least some of the accelerometer data, recommended tires to install on the vehicle. The method further includes determining, based on at least some of the OBD data and at least some of the tire pressure data, a recommended tire pressure for at least one tire of the vehicle. The method further includes sending information to display the recommended tires to install on the vehicle and the recommended tire pressure on a display device.

  • Patent number: 10529264
Abstract: In one embodiment, a vehicle mirror includes an on-board diagnostics (OBD) transceiver and one or more processors. The processors access OBD data received by the OBD transceiver from an OBD port of a vehicle. The processors further determine, from the OBD data, a vehicle type, a change in voltage of the vehicle's battery, and a secondary vehicle factor. When the vehicle is determined to be a combustion engine vehicle, the processors transition the vehicle mirror from a sleep power state to an awake power state when the change in voltage is greater than a predetermined amount and the secondary factor of the vehicle is greater than a predetermined threshold. When the vehicle is determined to be an electric vehicle, the processors transition the vehicle mirror from the sleep power state to the awake power state when any activity is detected in the OBD data and the secondary factor of the vehicle is greater than the predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 10522061
Abstract: In one embodiment, a vehicle mirror includes a heads-up display (HUD) projector, an on-board diagnostics (OBD) transceiver, and one or more processors. The processors access OBD data received by the OBD transceiver from an OBD port of a vehicle. The processors further determine an identification of the vehicle from the accessed OBD data and determine one or more calibration parameters for the HUD projector based on the determined identification of the vehicle. The one or more calibration parameters are operable to position a displayed image from the HUD projector onto a HUD reflector within a line-of-sight of a driver of the vehicle. The processors further send one or more instructions based on the one or more calibration parameters to the HUD projector.

  • Patent number: 10482801
Abstract: In one embodiment, a vehicle mirror includes an on-board diagnostics (OBD) transceiver and one or more processors. The processors access OBD data received by the OBD transceiver from an OBD port of a vehicle. The processors further monitor the OBD data to determine whether communications with the OBD port have been lost, determine an OBD speed of the vehicle, and determine an RPM of an engine of the vehicle. The processors further determine a GPS speed of the vehicle from a GPS transceiver. When communications with the OBD port are lost, the processors transition the vehicle mirror to a sleep power state. When communications with the OBD port have not been lost, the processors transition the vehicle mirror to the sleep power state when the OBD speed is determined to be zero for at least a first predetermined amount of time and the RPM of the engine is determined to be less than a threshold RPM amount.

  • Patent number: 9290145
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method that provides a standardized and portable automatic emergency event notification, or AEEN, device which detects a vehicle or other transport emergency event and then automatically and directly dials 911 emergency services and further provides the 911 operator with important information pertaining to the emergency event. Ordinary transport owners may readily install the AEEN device of the present invention into their vehicle or other transport. The AEEN device does not involve a subscription service and the device cellphone which places the 911 call does not require activation on a wireless service network.

  • Patent number: 9020690
Abstract: The present application provides methods for in-vehicle emergency telematics devices and systems to automatically qualify vehicle crash events before directly placing a 3-digit emergency call from an in-vehicle TCU to a local PSAP operator. The qualification is performed in two stages. The first stage produces a qualified crash detection decision wherein a preliminary crash detection based on impact sensors is qualified by crash related non-impact sensors and vehicle telemetry data. The second stage uses an injury severity prediction algorithm to score the detected crash and produces a decision as to whether the crash warrants an emergency call to the PSAP operator.

  • Patent number: 8750904
Abstract: A system, method and computer readable medium comprised of in-vehicle passive monitoring and information management system elements which together detect, identify, report and discourage unsafe wireless device use by the operator of a vehicle. An in-vehicle monitoring device determines the vehicle's operational state and location, identifies wireless device transmitter emissions within the vehicle and communicates to a remote information management system in real-time using a wireless network, or after-the-fact, using a locally-installed software version of the information management system. The information management system collects information retrieved from in-vehicle devices and correlates this information with other database information to provide users with timely alerts, tracking, and records of unsafe wireless device use.
