  • Patent number: 10779838
Abstract: An instrument for applying clips in surgery particularly suited for microsurgery with instrument chassis and cover joined to form housing supporting handle and clip handling components, the handle for squeeze and release action to develop linear reciprocation motion of fixed excursion, the clip handling components for feeding a stack of clips one-by-one into instrument clip crimping jaws for application at a surgical site, an anti-backup mechanism constraining handle action to full pull and release strokes, and an instrument lock-out mechanism to prevent instrument operation after last clip in stack is used. Clip handling components of magazine carrier, magazine, clip stack, clip pusher, pusher spring, and pusher spring shaft are inserted into instrument in upwardly open channel and secured by pusher spring cover.

  • Publication number: 20030135224
Abstract: An instrument for applying clips in surgery having an operating handle with operating components and a removable clip cartridge with clip applying mechanism. The handle operating components generate reciprocal linear motion imparted to the clip applying mechanism and accommodate rotation of the cartridge about a cartridge axis. An anti-backup mechanism constrains operating components to complete first and second strokes of reciprocal linear motion. The clip applying mechanism actuated by received reciprocal motion applies a clip in surgery, isolates the next clip, and prepares for loading the isolated clip into the jaws on a first stroke, and on the second stroke, opens the jaws and pushes the isolated clip into the open jaws.

  • Patent number: 6077233
Abstract: A blood coagulation test system for in vitro assessment of blood characteristics including hemostasis, thrombus formation, thrombolysis, and collagen platelet interaction comprises a test unit for collection, testing and disposal of the sample together with a test analyzer for executing a test protocol. Coagulation functions are evaluated by establishing controlled bleeding of the sample from a bleeding tube within the unit and monitoring these blood characteristics as a function of blood pressure variations occurring in the unit as the test proceeds. The blood sample remains within the unit for testing and after disposal.

  • Patent number: 5865807
Abstract: A sealing arrangement for trocar tubes including an upper ring seal forming the primary seal, and a lower seal valve forming the secondary seal. Both seals form part of a valve system which can be positioned within a removable cartridge. The seal valve is elastomeric in tubular form for passing instruments and is provided with upper and lower flanges for placement within the trocar. The intermediate portion of the valve between the flanges is in the general form of converging and diverging frusto-conical sections which join along a sealing line. A seal is formed between the interior wall surfaces of the valve and the instrument present in the trocar tube. Peritoneal pressure is admitted to the trocar head or housing for pressing the valve in forming the desired seal. With the instrument removed, the valve walls engage each other along the seal line to form the desired seal.
