    Abstract: This invention relates to a dispersion of a functional silicone modifier in a curable epoxy resin wherein emulsification of said silicone is aided by a siloxane-polyoxyalkylene copolymer. The silicone modifier comprises an alpha,omega-functional polydimethylsiloxane having carboxyl, amine or epoxide endgroups. A method of using the dispersion to improve the impact resistance of the resin, when the latter is cured, is described.

    Abstract: This invention relates to oil-in-oil emulsions wherein the continuous phase comprises at least one carboxyalkyl terminated polydiorganosiloxane and the dispersed phase comprises at least one epoxide compound selected from diglycidyl ethers of di- and bis-phenols. The emulsions also include a curing catalyst in addition to an dispersing agent for the epoxide compound, and can be cured with heating to form elastomeric materials exhibiting properties characteristics of silicone rubber.

    Abstract: Novel fluorine-containing polyorganosiloxanes comprise repeating units of the formula [F(CF.sub.2).sub.m (CH.sub.2).sub.n ].sub.p SiO.sub.(4-p)/2, R.sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 and SiO.sub.4/2 where R represents a monovalent hydrocarbon radical containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, m has an average value from 1 to 20, n is 1 or 2 and p is 1, 2 or 3. The polyorganosiloxanes are particularly useful as stabilizers for foams prepared by introducing gaseous blowing agents into liquid polydimethylsiloxanes.

The emulsions are an effective foam suppressant for organic liquids, especially crude petroleum.

    Abstract: Organopolysiloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymers having a limited number of dimethylsiloxane units, at least one 6 to 16 carbon alkyl radical and at least one polyoxyalkylene radical are good emulsifiers for preparing water-in-mineral oil emulsions if the polyoxyalkylene radicals do not account for more than 1/3 of the molecular weight of the block copolymer. The block copolymers are readily dispersible or dissolvable in mineral oil to which a personal care component can be added. Personal care emulsion compositions can then be prepared by emulsifying an aqueous phase into the mineral oil phase.

    Abstract: Compositions are disclosed consisting essentially of: (A) a polydiorganosiloxane fluid in which the organic radicals are predominantly or wholly methyl radicals; (B) a chlorendate diester; (C) a lubricant compound which is an antimony or lead compound of a dialkyldithiocarbamate or dialkylphosphorodithioate; and (D) a block copolymer comprising blocks of polydimethylsiloxane and blocks of polybutadiene or hydrogenated polybutadiene. These compositions are useful as concentrates for replenishing polydiorganosiloxane hydraulic fluids that have become depleted in additives (B) and (C), and as hydraulic fluids having improved resistance to settling of the lubricant compound at low temperatures.

    Abstract: An improved silicone emulsifier composition is disclosed which is particularly useful for preparing thermally stable, solids-free invert emulsions for the deep well-drilling art. The emulsifier composition comprises a surface active polydiorganosiloxane bearing one or more polyoxyalkylene radicals and one or more hydrocarbon radicals having from 6 to 18 carbon atoms and a resin component comprising (CH.sub.3).sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 siloxane units and SiO.sub.4/2 siloxane units. Improved invert emulsions and a method for their preparation are also disclosed. The invert emulsions comprise the improved silicone emulsifier of this invention as well as a brine discontinuous phase and a liquid hydrocarbon continuous phase.

    Abstract: Antiperspirant emulsion compositions are described which comprise an aqueous solution of an astringent agent; a volatile, water-insoluble liquid; a polydiorganosiloxane-polyoxyalkylene copolymer; an oil-in-water type surfactant; and a water-in-oil type surfactant. A preferred embodiment comprises an emulsion of aqueous aluminum chlorhydrate in cyclopolydimethylsiloxanes as the volatile fluid. These compositions have improved efficacy as measured by their drying times.

    Abstract: Antiperspirant stick compositions are described which comprise an aqueous solution of an astringent dispersed in a solid matrix comprising a volatile, water-insoluble liquid; a polydiorganosiloxane-polyoxyalkylene copolymer; a solid alkanoic acid; a waxy ester; and optionally containing a solid alkanol. A preferred embodiment comprises an aqueous solution of aluminum chlorhydrate dispersed in a solid matrix comprising cyclopolydimthylsiloxanes as the volatile liquid. These compositions are stable to separation in the molten state and provide non-leaking sticks of controllable softness when solidified by cooling.

An emulsion of interest is an anti-perspirant composition comprising an aqueous solution of aluminum chlorhydrate as the polar liquid dispersed in cyclopolydimethylsiloxanes as the non-polar base liquid, using a mixture of nonylphenoxy polyethoxyethanol and a copolymer of a trimethylsiloxane-endblocked polydimethylsiloxane containing a minor amount of methylhydrogensiloxane units and an allyloxy-endblocked polyoxyethylenepolyoxypropylene copolymer.

These siloxane copolymers can be combined with a trimethylsilyl endblocked polydimethylsiloxane fluid and conventional organic thread finishes to obtain thread treating compositions.
