  • Patent number: 9294841
Abstract: The acoustic radiator of a coaxial structure of an active region surrounded by a passive region wherein the operating area of the active region is also included as a part of the passive region. The active region includes for example a fully assembled audio speaker that is flexibly suspended in an enclosure with the flexible suspension connected between the audio speaker and the opening of the enclosure with the audio speaker never coming into direct contact with any portion of the enclosure when energized or unenergized. In such configuration, the area of the audio speaker functions as active region the audio speaker of the acoustic radiator. The passive radiator function includes both the area of the complete audio speaker and the area of the enclosure that surrounds the audio speaker. In this configuration the audio speaker is a central portion of the passive radiator and thus it can be seen that the audio speaker and the passive radiator are effectively coaxially mounted one with the other.

  • Patent number: 8204269
Abstract: A low profile speaker that is designed to substantially eliminate wobble of the bobbin and voice coil during operation with two different electromagnetic motor designs. In each design there is an added feature to of a downward extension of the outer edge of the cone that bottoms out on the bottom surface of the frame before the bottom edge of the bobbin strikes the bottom of the air gap thus preventing damage to the bobbin and voice coil when the voice coil is overdriven downward. Additionally, there are two different bobbin and voice coil cooling feature for use with electromagnetic motors that utilize a Tyoke construction.

  • Patent number: 7831059
Abstract: An electro-magnetic audio transducer that is self-cooling by inhaling and exhausting an area that is separated from the reminder of the transducer by an instantaneous decrease or increase, respectively, of the pressure within that area by the movement of a coil when electrically excited. The coil being wound on a bobbin that defines an interior cavity that changes in size as the coil is excited causing that size to increase or decrease thus inhaling or exhausting, respectfully, air into or out of the cavity by the pressure change. That movement of air resulting in convective cooling of the coil and transducer. The bobbin encircling a magnetic pole piece with a cooling cap on top thereof with slots therethrough through which air is drawn in opposite directions as the size of the cavity within the bobbin changes size as the coil is electrically excited.

  • Patent number: 7768160
Abstract: Electromagnetic motor with a slider that moves linearly with respect to the stator in either direction. Embodiments include slider internal or external the stator. Slider includes one magnetic flux producing element in all embodiments. Internal slider embodiments stator includes a minimum of three magnetic flux producing elements and a maximum of four such elements. External slider embodiments stator includes two magnetic flux producing elements. All embodiments provide positive slider return to center at rest position. In internal slider embodiments the slider is centered within the stator resulting from either: a combination of a repelling force from a single magnetic flux producing element in opposition to gravitational pull on the slider due to its weight; or equal and opposite repelling forces on opposite sides of the stator from a magnetic flux producing element on opposite sides of the stator all three elements in longitudinal alignment with each other.

  • Patent number: 7284638
Abstract: A speaker enclosure including a compact quarter wavelength transmission path in the shape of a closed spiral that expands radially outward from a centrally located loudspeaker mounting location. The height of the transmission path has a minimum height that is equal to the height of the basket of the desired speaker. The quarter wavelength transmission path spiral of the provides an aerodynamic path for air flow therein which reduces the turbulence of air flow to a minimum that in turn provides even resistance to the air flow within the transmission line (Exhale vs. Inhale).

  • Patent number: 7197154
Abstract: Speaker design/method positively centering speaker components one with the other with a unique design of the surround and radiator. Surround has a main body extending radially through more than 180°, extending from the body there is a flat outer ring and a flat inner ring at substantially 180° radially around the body from the outer ring with a portion of the main body extending below the inner ring, forming a channel between the inner ring and the body portion that extends below it. The radiator has outer and inner edges with a central opening defined by the inner edge, with the outer edge either blunt or defined by a short downward extending ring. The shape and dimensions of the outer edge of the radiator and the channel are substantially the same outer with the radiator edge fitting snugly within the surround channel.

  • Patent number: 7194104
Abstract: A speaker interconnection block with two voice coils to be driven with separate amplifiers, or to use one amplifier to drive the two voice coils in series or parallel without having to reinterconnect the voice coils. This is achieved by locating the negative voice coil terminals next to each other and the positive voice terminals next to each other on the connection block. When two amplifiers are used to drive the voice coils, the sequence of connections of the amplifiers matches those of the voice coils mentioned above. When only one amplifier is used, that amplifier is connected between the two amplifier terminals farthest from each other. To connect the voice coils in series a single jumper is used to interconnect the two terminals in the center, and for parallel connection two jumpers are used to connect to two terminals at the ends of the sequence together separately.

  • Patent number: 6816007
Abstract: The amplifier of the present invention causes variations in the rail voltage that are controlled by the frequency of the audio signal being amplified as the audio signal changes. This is done to tune the operation of the amplifier taking into consideration the frequency response of the human ear. By doing so, the resulting amplifier is more efficient at lower frequencies where more signal distortion is required before it can be heard by the human ear, and a higher quality signal output is provided at higher frequencies where the human ear can more readily detect distortion. Thus by designing the amplifier from the listener's point of view results in an amplifier with much improved performance from both technical and listener points of view.

  • Publication number: 20040076309
Abstract: A speaker having a generally linear response by configuring two elastic members opposite one another so that any non-linearlity in the spring constant between an outward displacement versus an inward displacement are substantially cancelled. The present invention provides a pseudo linear spring constant throughout the range of travel of the cone and voice coil, or the sound baffle for a passive radiator. This minimizes the flexing of the cone and the wobble of the voice coil tube, or the baffle, as each travels to reproduce the audio waves.
