  • Publication number: 20240240331
Abstract: Methods and systems for removing impurities from molten salts using an electrochemical purification system having two electrodes. When a voltage is applied to the two-electrode electrochemical purification system, ions from a counter electrode may react with impurities in the molten salt to form materials which can deposit on the working electrode and out of the molten salt. The systems and methods may be more effective at removing impurities than traditional methods and produce less harmful byproducts.

  • Publication number: 20230111862
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to wood template-supported phase change material (PCM) composites having thermal energy storage applications. A wood template-supported PCM composite may include a wood template that has had at least a portion of its xylan and/or lignin removed and saturated with a PCM. The PCM may be stabilized with a cross linkable network for improved infiltration into the wood template. The wood template-supported PCM composite may be formed by extracting xylan and/or lignin from the wood to create a wood template, densifying at least a portion of the wood template, and inserting a PCM into the wood template.

  • Patent number: 11560504
Abstract: Among other things, the present disclosure relates to phase change material (PCM) composites composed of an PCM mixed with a nucleating agent contained within the pores of a graphite matrix and/or a hydrogel. The process to create these PCM composites includes coating the surface of graphite with a surfactant, compressing the graphite to form a matrix, then filling the graphite matrix with the PCM.

  • Publication number: 20210147990
Abstract: The present application overcomes the issue of the low yields of biological hydrogen production by cells by utilizing purified hydrogenase enzymes in vitro. Two methods are considered. The major advantage of these approaches is that they by-pass the mechanisms that limit the rates of intact organisms, thus achieving rates much closer to the actual capacity of the enzyme.

  • Publication number: 20190376192
Abstract: The present application refers to a method for the reduction of the corrosiveness of a heat storage or heat transfer fluid material for the high-temperature range and a device for said method. The respective heat storage or heat transfer fluid material obtained by the method may be used in solar thermal power plants, conventional fossil power plants with higher flexibility, pumped thermal energy storage, combined heat and power plants, intermediate storage of high-temperature process heat, or in sensible heat storage with molten salts.
