  • Publication number: 20120193020
Abstract: A process of making a multi-layered product (50) made from multiple extruded sheets or webs (51, 52) of material laminated or joined together. In several embodiments, at least one of the webs is made of different materials, such that the extrudate (12, 12a, 12b) has different properties. When introduced into a dimpler (15, 68,108), the extrudate (12, 12a, 12b) is treated such that a plurality of dimples (26, 28, 72, 74, 112) are created in the web. A pair of outer skins (52, 52A, 72, 92) may be laminated or applied to the dimpled interior layer (24, 51, 70, 90, 100,110). Each outer skin (52, 52A, 72, 92, 102, 116) may have identical properties or different properties.

  • Publication number: 20120104645
Abstract: A product (10) made from an extruded sheet or web of material (42) having a non-linear cross-section, and the process of making the product (10) is provided. The extruded web or extrudate (42) is plastically deformed in selected areas and then folded. When folded into the appropriate shape, the extrudate (42) is formed into a product (10) having a plurality of cells (14). The cells (14a) may have one or more openings (34a), allowing access to an interior of the cell (14a) and reducing the weight of the product (10a).

  • Publication number: 20120100347
Abstract: A process of making a multi-layered product having an interior layer including spaced honeycomb core sections. The interior layer is treated or plastically deformed in selected areas and then folded to create spaced honeycomb sections at desired locations and of desired sizes. A generally flat web of material used to make the interior layer extends between the honeycomb sections. Outer protective skins are applied to exterior surfaces of the interior layer to create a multi-layered material which is then cut to size.

  • Publication number: 20080110898
Abstract: A non-disassembling partition assembly comprising a partition matrix made up of intersecting first and second slotted partitions, each of the partitions having at least one slot. The slots of the partitions are engaged with each other at a plurality of intersections. The partitions may be made by folding over a partition blank and securing a foam portion of the folded partition blank to itself. The foam may be heated before being cooled under pressure to secure opposed plies the partition together. The partition assembly is held together by a floor parent welded to the intersecting partitions. The floor has a lower outer skin and a foam layer to which the partitions are parent welded.
