Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system and method for selectively enabling or disabling rings or other alerts associated with a mobile communication device. A mobile communication device in accordance with embodiments of the present invention includes one or more programmable profiles that establish the behavior of the mobile communication device for a number of different proximity levels between the user and the device. Accordingly, by applying a determined proximity level and an applicable programmable profile, an alert type maybe selected.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system and method for selectively providing an audible alert to remind the user of a mobile communication device that they have received an incoming message. A first alert is provided initially after the incoming messages is received. Thereafter, additional alerts are suppressed unless motion of the mobile communication device is detected.

Abstract: An answer on hold notification feature is provided. The answer on hold notification feature is activated when a call is waiting for servicing by a human agent. For example the feature may be activated when the call is placed on hold by the user of the first communication endpoint. By providing an answer on hold notification signal feature, a user can engage in a second call, or perform other tasks, without the risk of losing an opportunity to speak with a human agent as a result of attending to such other call or task.

Abstract: Alerting a calling party of a delay before an incoming call will be answered by a user of a called telecommunication terminal. The incoming call is answered by the telecommunication terminal or a switching system to which the telecommunication terminal is connected in response to an input from the user when the telecommunication terminal is not engaged in another call. An audio path of the answered call is muted from communication with the user. A message is transmitted to the calling party where the message is selected by the user.

A method for protecting by the computer data generated by a keyboard where the keyboard is connected to the computer by receiving encrypted data from the keyboard by the computer, and decrypting the encrypted data. A method for protecting by a server the data generated by a keyboard where the keyboard is connected to the server via a network and a computer by receiving encrypted data from the keyboard by the server, and decrypting the encrypted data.
